My 2003 chevy suburban has a service air bag ligth on as well as message ligth

There are nuts on the back of the steering wheel for the driver side, they are in holes sunk down in there, the passenger side is retained buy nuts behind the air bag, you may have to remove the glove box liner to get at these nuts.

First of all you need to get this problem fixed ASAP. While the airbag light is illuminated, your SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic Module aka: the brain of your airbag system) shuts of power to the airbags. In which, if you are in an accident your airbags will not deploy while this light is illuminated. You need to take your vehicle to a GM dealership. A Tech 2 scantool is needed to retrieve the code from the SDM. Hopefully it won't be a costly repair, but is something that defineatly needs to be corrected soon. Good luck and hope all works well.

You need to get the codes from the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint module S.I.R.This is the only way to tell what is causing the light to come on.Let me know what codes you get and I`ll be glad to help you out.Hope this helps.Good luck.
