What causes my 1993 Nissan altima to studder or idle rough at red light or stopped

-It could be miss fire, bad coil, air leak, injector or spark plug and plug wire. It's hard to tell at this moment.
-First able you needed to check all above to determine which part is bad.

Good luck

98 5.7 that "studders" under accelerating. new filter, new cap and rotor, 100,000 done 15,000 ago. Seemed to run fine after injector cleaner, but that lasted about 5 tanks of gas. Problem returned even...

Look inside the throttle body with a flashlight. If the intake manifold looks wet or is cleaned off inside, then the SFI fuel injectors are leaking. This will cause poor performance and poor fuel economy. If this is the problem, have the injectors replaced with an upgraded MFI assembly.
Also you did'nt mention spark plugs, check/replace if you have not already.

96 Ford Explorer is studdering (misfiring) when going up hills

I have the same exact problem that just started immediately AFTER I got a tranny service where they changed the Trans Fluid, Trans Filter, Fuel Filter. Took it back and they say nothing is wrong with it. Took it to the dealer thinking I could get some REAL answers... they just told me to replace spark plugs, wiring & coil, for $900. Only studders when quickly accelerating above 40mph. I've check other forums, they say to clean the Mass Air Flow sensor. Haven't tried it yet. This seems the easiest before replacing spark plugs. Any other suggestions anyone?? Please.....

01 ford ranger 4x4 4.0V6-- rough idle like it wants to cut off. loses power or studders under acceleration. struggles to get up to 55 or 60

I agree. Try replacing the spark plugs, install new spark plug wires, change the air filter, change the fuel filter, and test the battery and alternator. Run a bottle of fuel system cleaner and water remover through it. To replace the spark plugs you'll most likely have to go through the wheel wells cause of their hard accessibility from the top. The fuel filter is located on the inside of the frame on the driver's side. Hope this helps. God bless

95 aspire sputters and back fires when you try to accelerate , changed fuel filter, fuel pressure is fine, new mass airflow sensor

Check spark in each cylinder. You may have a bad plugwire or coil pack. Make sure fuel is spraying from every injector.
You can remove one plug at a time, plug it back into the plug wire and lay it on top of engine block, have someone else turn motor over and you can view plug to see if it is sparking. Do this to each plug. If you have one or two plugs not firing, you may have bad coil pack.

25 tdi quattro

it may be the spark plugs/coils my car would idle very low and it would shake the whole car and i went and took it in and they told me that it most likely was the coils and spark plugs and they changed them and the studder never came back
