If you have a coil for each cylinder,or coil pack and one is going bad, the engine will only be running on 5 cylinders at times instead of 6.which will cause it to miss and cut out under a load( going up hill, fast take off, ect.) you will notice a change in the performance of the car...now if you only have one coil and its bad, the car will not start.... yz-maniac

Just replaced valve covers on Nissan Maxima 2002 due to misfire. Now it smokes and burns oil every start? What's should I do .

If is is only smoking when you first start it up. Most likely the valve guide seals, oil is leaking into the cylinders and smoking when you start it up.

My 1997 Nissan Maxima check engine light comes on only on the second cycle after clearing the trouble code. Car runs good. No misfires or driveability problems. What the heck does is this all about? Could...

It could be a bad coil, nissan recommends uses there coils as aftermarket coils dont work, they will fire the cylinder but turn on the check engine light, you must use nissan coils, if you can give me the code that come up i can help you turn light off and solve the problem. good day

P1320 service code on 2000 nissan maxima & #5 cylinder misfire or #6 cylinder misfire

2000 maxima are famous for having bad coils - those cost about $350 if you dealer isn't trying to rip you off (otherwise they will charge $600). I also read you can get an aftermarket coil at Autozone.

How do I test and change a bad ignition coil in a 99 Maxima

Unplug ignition coils one at a time untill you find the one that doesn't effect the rpm's.That's the one that's bad.
Ignition coil 4 is the center coil (plug) on the bank closest to the radiator. FYI, #1 is passenger side, closest to firewall, #3 is center, firewall, #5 is driver's side firewall, etc. Good luck.

How do I test and change a bad ignition coil in a 99 Maxima?

Im having the same issue w/ my 99 maxima. had the problem 2 months ago, they replaced coil, changed plugs, told me that I would still get knock sensor code but dont worry about it. Now the rough idling and check light flashing is happening again.

No sparks from spark plugs in the 97 nissan maxima wont start up

This car has seporate coil packs for each cylinder, have you tried swapping the front bad one with a good one to see if they switch ?
The engine you just put in may have come with some blown coils.
Hope this helps

When hitting passing gear no acceleration feels like it is trying

Proably one of your Coils has gone out. This generally happens with this car aroung 60,000 miles. These are coil on plug coils, which means you have 6. Nissan will want to replace all for $600+. Check this out for more details

I have a 1999 nissan maxima with code P1320

This code is a crapshoot. There are two main things it could be and they are both expensive. There could be wire breakage in the engine harness. There is a thick harness coming out of engine bulkhead on the passenger/right side and it has a slight bend to it. With the engine idling grab that bend and give it a couple of twists and yanks. If the engine stumbles or misses that is the source of your troubles. If not, you more than likely need to replace the coils. Any one of the six coils could be causing the code so I recommend replacing all six at the same time. You could buy one coil for the front bank and one for the rear and swap it between cylinders to see which coil is causing the code. This is time consuming but cheaper.
