A knocking (or sometimes pinging) is a result of insufficiently burned fuel in the cylinders. This can be from bad fuel or from fouled plugs, to bad wiring or bad electrical contact at the distributor.

If the knocking is not this, but a repetitive striking noise, then you will have to locate the area the noise is coming from and try to identify it. Sorry can't be more of a help, this really is a person to car diagnosis.

good luck and don't forget to vote!!!

1988 chevy k1500 5.7 350. Motor is knockin.

Changing the spark plugs may help. If not, I would get it checked out. It may be time for an engine tuning.

Good oil pressure on startup but after warm up pressure drops off to nothing an a floating knock sounds when excel & decel. I'm guessing bearings?

Sounds like you do have some bearings knockin.
You might get a few more miles out of it if you dump some STP or Motor Honey in the crank case.
If it's worth saving you need to get some engine work done before you do any serious damage to the internals of your motor

I have a 4.6 liter 3v mustang gt and it is making a knockin sound in the engine what would it be..

Could be one of thousands of parts, but if it is a loud knocking and get louder when you give it gas,it would more than likely be a rod or rod bearing.

Knockin noise at the top of valve cover, no motor power ,cyl 5 6 misfiring 92 maxima

Sounds like you have a couple of failed valves. Do a compression test on cylinders 5 and 6. You will have very little compression in either cylinder if valves are broken. You will have to have your head rebuilt at least on those two cylinders and possibly piston work depending on how the valves failed.
