Question about 2004 Mazda MPV

1 Answer

2004 Mazda MPV rear accessory socket doesn't work. Will light for 5-10 sec and fade out; implies line capacitance draining. Engine fuse socket 14 (15A) is empty, but can't confirm they are related; manual doesn't clearly link the two. Before I buy and insert fuse, do you have any other ideas?

You have to forgive me for asking a stupid question, but is the motor OFF & key inOFF position when you do this? I believe the key has to be in the ACC or ON position. The fade leads me to think that it is in line with the interior lights (kill motor, open/close door, lights fade).

Think of it this way - if you could draw juice from the socket with the key removed, you'd create a pretty hefty drain from the cell. I think what you're seeing is your MPV's way to protect itself.

Hope this helps!

2004 mazda mpv engine racing and cooling fan not working

coolant temp sensor tells the computer how hot or cold the engine is so it can regulate the idle and fuel mixture, when it fails there usually is no cooling fan and you will have trouble starting the engine and keeping it running.

How do I change spark plugs on a 2005 Mazda MPV 3.0 liter engine?

I just changed plugs on my 05' you have to remove the intake plentum to gain acsess to the rear plugs. First remove plastic cover from top of engine, remove intake hose to throtle body, unplug electrical connections to sensors on plentum, unhook vaccum lines, there are two coolant lines that need to unhooked from underneth throttle body, remove plentum support bolts, one on back and one on right side towards rear, a flash light and a mirror is useful for locating these bolts, there is also two vaccumn lines on the very back off plentum that have to be removed. remove clip on back off plentum that secures the hose that goes across the side of the plentum. Remove the six hold down bolts on plentum, and remove plentum. Spark plugs are acsessed by removing the coil packs for each cylinder, simply remove each coil pack hold down bolt and remove coil, plugs are underneth coil packs, you will need a long extension and a 5/8 spark plug socket to remove plugs.

Fuel filter location 97 mazda mpv

Under the hood on the passenger side wheel well. Can be tricky to get at and remove. You will need a 10mm socket to loosen the clamp holding the filter in place, but you will need to undo and remove the fuel lines first. These are under high pressure so it is a good idea to drain the pressure off the fuel system before removing the lines.

Where is the bank 2 o2 sensor located on a 2004 Mazda MPV LX

bank 2 is the cylinder in the front of the engine compartment near the radiator, the O2 is either in the exhaust manifold of the bank or in the exhaust pipe off the manifold, round about the size of a jumbo magic marker, you need a special O2 sensor socket to remove it in some cases, if it is in the open then a 7/8 open end wrench will work.

My 2004 MPV was just diagnosed with a corroded aluminum line to the rear cabin air-con unit. It cost me $50 to get the unit leak-checked. Also got a $700 estimate to replace the line.
