Check the voltage regulator. If that is pushing 12.6V then its something else. I would recommend checking voltage one step at a time going from coil all the way back to the battery if you have to.

Turns over wont start


Security light lit on the dash ? You say new coil pack , but is there spark ? Are the injectors turning on ? (squirting fuel ) Is there 5volt reference voltage at the sensors that are suppose to have it ? A shorted sensor can bring down the reference circuit in the PCM causing a crank - no start .
The powertrain control module (PCM) can supply 5 volts or 12 volts to the various sensors or switches. This is done through pull-up resistors to the regulated power supplies within the control module. In some cases, even an ordinary shop voltmeter will not give an accurate reading because the resistance is too low. Therefore, a DMM with at least 10 megaohms input impedance is required in order to ensure accurate voltage readings.
The PCM controls the output circuits by controlling the ground or the power feed circuit through the transistors or a device called an output driver module.
The engine coolant temp. sensor , fuel tank pressure sensor , MAP sensor .EGR valve , A/C refrigerant pressure sensor . The TPS sensors an the APP - accelerator pedal position sensors etc.. Any one of these sensors being shorted internally will bring the 5volt ref. circuit down , shutting down the PCM . Find one of these sensors an test for 5volts on the ref. circuit . If less then 5volts disconnect each sensor till you see 5volts on your volt meter .Then replace that sensor.

This engine uses a special flat cap and a standard rotor, right ? The spark comes into the cap and thru the rotor, then to the spark plugs.
Have you replaced the rotor ?
The spark can jump thru the rotor and ground thru the dist. shaft.
Depending on where you are testing for spark, the coil could also be weak and not pushing the spark to the plugs.

No fire to the coil


You will not get spark from the coil . The spark comes from the spark plug wire Check the coil resistance with a hand held ohm meter and check for resistance . If ok check your distributor to see if it is functioning. You can get a very good Chilton repair manual for about twenty dollars. It is a very good book that will help you with the problem.

Have no spark comin out of coil


Hi!
If your engine has a distributor, you should have a single coil, out of the two terminals on the coil one of them must have power coming in when key is on the RUN/ON position, if power is coming in, the coil may be defective. If your engine is distributor-less, check for spark on all terminals, if no spark present, the Ignition Module may be defective.

The coil has no fire


Hi!!

Check the Ignition Control Module (the part where the coils are seated on), check for 12v coming in, if so, check every one of the 3 coil terminals for spark, if in a coil, one terminal has spark and the other doesn't, replace coil, if none of the coils have spark, it is most likely the Ignition Module.

No spark or fuel on my 92vw golf


check voltage to both coil and hall sender. should get battery voltage across two outer terminals on hall sender. battery voltage at black wire on coil. should get 5volts[pulsing] out put on center wire on hall sender. if input voltage ok but out put not, hall sender faulty. coil and fuel pump need an engine speed signal to activate.

Have fuel , spark from the coil . no spark at plugs . could it b ignition module . and where is the module


If you have spark coming out of ignition coil, module is good, check your cap, rotor and wire's problem in that area. Good luck, hope this was very helpful.

The " FIRE" doesnt come to the coil from any of those things you have changed.......The "fire" comes from the coil TO those items!!!! Good luck, RC

If you have a 12 volt test light put the point on the positive lead to
the coil and the ground lead to a good ground ( Negitive side of battery ). Then turn the key on. If the test light comes on then you have power to the coil. With power to the coil confirmed have someone crank the engine and put the test light on the negitive side of the coil. The light should flash at a rapid steady rate. If not then your pickup in the distributor may be bad. If no power to coil with key on or when cranking you may have a bad ignition switch.
Another way to test for spark is to remove the coil wire from the dist cap and hold the end close to a ground ( 1/4 inch away) and
have some one crank the engine. If you get a good spark but no
spark to the spark plugs you may have a cracked dist cap or a bad rotor. If no spark at coil wire use a wire in place of the coil wire to check for spark. You may have a bad coil wire. Good luck. Neil W.
