security light flashes and service light comes on. the car cranks but will not fully turn over. an hour later it started just fine. drove the other night and security light came on again with the service light but car started. had battery and alternator checked out and all is well. can you help ?

i have had the same problem also. manuel suggests that you reset the security, ie.. hit horn button on keyfob 4 times then hit unlock. does not work. usually my car will start up again after about 5 to 10 minutes. it does crank, but does not turn over, and battery runs dead if you continue to try.

Ignition control module. Saturn had a recall on this in 2003. Check your VIN number with you local dealership to see if yours was recalled.

SOURCE: 2000 saturn want start after driving for a while

Saturn has had a problem with bad crank position sensors which are fairly cheap and easy enough to replace. (about $20 or less)

When the sensor gets hot, it won't work, so after cooling down it will work again. If you test it, it must be tested when hot otherwise it will test fine, please let me know if you have any more questions and I would be glad to help.

good luck

My 2000 acura 3.2 tl is misfiring. I've replaced the spark plugs. It starts and drives fine until you park for 5 minutes and when you go to start it up again, it misfires badly and sometimes won't start at...

Check the wiring. to Coil, plugs, Crank Positioning Sensor. check to see if the wire is in good condition sometimes if wire is checked, in poor condition it will allow bleed through especially when the wires get hot. This is why it will often start when engine cools down and why it shuts off when your sitting cause it heats the wires up there is not the cool air running accross the wires when sitting. Good Luck and a grt day. Would appreciat 4 thumbs up if this was helpful.

After driving for 25-30 minutes, the car won't start for about 3 hours

Any chance you've got 'Titanium' spark plugs. We had this same issue, and found it was caused by a mechanic replacing our plugs with the titanium ones. If they were hot, they didn't ignite properly during startup. If you let the car cool, it would start right up (~2 hours). Changing the plugs for good quality old-style plugs and the problem hasn't occurred since.
