In the 2001 Jaguar XJ8 he trunk (boot) fuse should be #10 (10A) located in the trunk fuse box next to the battery. You may need to use your key in the mechanical trunk lock (insert in Jaguar chrome on right side). Good luck.
Use your ignition key in the keyhole under the lip of the boot lid by the number plate or hidden under the boot chrome trim, all these cars have an overide to the electric boot opener its either a key at the boot or sometimes a cable pull inside the cabin or by the rear seat.
good luck - hopes this helps.
The last Jaguar on which I corrected this problem had a nut loosen on the lock mechanism. I took out the rear seat and then the parcel shelf covering and then cut an access hole into the trunk.
That was a 1987 XJ6. I am not certain that you have similar access due to fuel tank location. If you take this on, be aware of that possibility.
2000 jag trunk locked dead battery-use MASTER KEY ONLY to open trunk location is above rear lic plate looks like hex screw ---the valet key will not open trunk-you cannot go thru back seat thr release for them are in the trunk-hope this helps someone
