My alarm no longer goes off when I open the door. The remote still works for locking and unlocking the door. How could I reset my alarm so that if someone opens the door the alarm goes off?

To arm content theft alarm. 1. Open the door. 2. Lock the door with the power door lock switch or the remote keyless entry transmitter. The SECURITY light should flash. 3. Close all doors. The SECURITY light should go off after approximately 30 seconds. The alarm is not armed until the SECURITY light goes off.
If a locked door is opened without the key or the remote keyless entry transmitter, the alarm will go off. The headlamps and parking lamps will flash for two minutes, and the horn will sound for 30 seconds, then will turn off to save the battery power.
thats how its suppose to work the key resets alarm ==by a fob online for a few dollars and program to car [free program] ==when you use key to unlock and enter vehicle you have a few seconds after opening door to turn vehicle on or start it and doing so resets alarm when you leave vehicle and lock it alarm is active
If you have an after market alarm sys. take it back to who ever installed it . as far as the key & lock sys . spray some WD40 into the lock and try again . disconect the alarm speaker until you figure it out . Good Luck
this is a problem that can appear after your car battery died, cause the car didn't reset propely, so taking the battery out and putting it back in or letting your car die again would do the trick. I tried a lot of reprogramming procedured for my remote key, none of them worked, what did the trick though was simply unlocking the doors via the all door unlock button on the passenger side door, so simple.
If the passkey is messed up, there will be a light on the dash that says security, or have a picture of a car with a lock thru it. If there is no light when the key is turned forward, then its NOT a passkey problem.
Check the batteries in your remote the may need replaced and if working OK check to see if you power locks work pushing the door switch. (If batteries are low they may not disengage both the alarm and the locks)
sounds like it's in theft mode?
try using the fob to lock and unlock the doors 3X then open the drivers door with the key
if that does not work use the kill switch
