Ok before any thing you are not providing the year or engine size for your car, don't be worry i will try to help but you are not the only one not providing this very important information in order to get you the closes answer posible,
the first thing i will recomend you is to contact the dealer and ask for a list of recalls for this gmc, recalls are coming problems that dealers have to repair for free see if you gmc falls into this recalls and have it repair other than that the only thing i will sugest is to pull codes with an scan tool thats only if your check engine light come on, and see if the coolant sensor is bad and have it replace

I've a 1981 Vette that idles very rough with a cold engine start.

You need to have the choke adjusted so it runs on a fast idle so the engine can warm up or you may need the carb to be rebuild and adjusted properly.

Trouble starting my 1992 cav. 2.2. New battery, starter ok, new plugs, can start with ether and then idles and runs fine. Seems like I do not have that initial fuel??

well there is a fuel pressure regulator which keeps pressure on, even while engine is off. i would suspect it is bad, or you have something else leaking pressure off while the engine is not running.

I have a 5-speed manual, 4 cylinder cav. When I

best bet would be to scan for the diagnostic codes, which I believe can be done at most parts stores and repair garages (best to call ahead to make sure, most garages will charge ~$80 just to do the scan) that would show what's causing the light to come on, which should also be the reason for the rough running -- does the car seem to be ok otherwise (while driving and above an idle)? could be something simple like a bad vacuum line or a broken seal...

2.0d x-type 2005 Est. Starting problems when engine is warm

Ok, time for car school. The vehicle is operated by the computer, every electrical concept that is. When the engine is cold, it starts fine because the computer has placed it in "cold start mode", putting more fuel into the engine than normally would until Once the engine is warmed up, a temperature sending unit or temp sensor tells the computer to change to normal run mode. IF said temp sensor is faulty and is not telling the computer to make said change, it stays in cold start mode, still dumping excess fuel in the engine that is now not required, cause it's warmed up. Like keeping the choke closed on older vehicles. Now I think you can answer your own question, when this no start action is happening after warm up and it always starts fine when cold, what's the first thing you check ? Right, the unsuspected temp sensor. Change that and no more start problem. Have a wonderful day. Glad I could be of service.

When I start the engine from cold it runs on high revs too long

Hi ..... This sounds as if it's fitted with an automatic choke, as long as the revs drop when it's warm there is nothing to worry about. The indication when these start to go wrong is that the car won't start when cold ................ even then any decent mechanic can fit a normal/manual choke.
