Standing at the front of the car looking at the intake manifold, its on the right hand side of the manifold about 6 inches down from the valve cover under a black cap with a 32mm top on it.

Is there a check valve in the oil pump

there is, but its called a pressure relief valve, so the oil pressure is maintained at the proper pressure and if there is a restriction in the oil system it won`t build too much pressure.

If my 2004 chevy silverado oil pressure gage stays at 80 psi could this hurt the engine

I would want to know what the actual oil pressure is. The sending unit or the gauge on the dash could have failed.
There is a pressure relief valve to prevent oil pressure from going too high, but staying at 80psi would not be good for a long time.

you may have to drive with a oil gage connected to see what and when the oil pressure is and fails.you could have a pressure relief valve that is stuck in the open position that needs looking at.

Low oil preasure stop engine message displayed on a chevy trailblazer LT 2004. has anyone encounter this problem? solution?

I havent encountered it. However, I highly recommend you do not drive this car. Low oil pressure can do permanent damage to the engine. It sounds like your oil pump is bad. However, if debris managed to get inside your engine it could have damaged the piston walls causing this to happen as well.

I hate to say it, but unless you are a very skilled mec hanic this is a job for the dealership.

2004 f150 runs fine two minutes ..then no oil 5.4

There is clearly a fault in the oil pressure side.

This could be a blocked oil filter with the bypass valve stuck closed.

Or the oil pressure relief valve could be sticking in the open position.

These are both relativelly easy and cheep things to try first.

Low oil pressure at idle, up tp 20psi under power. It had almost doubble that prior to problem. I have replaced the oil pump & put a mechanical pressure gauge on the motor and it red the same.

You could have a blocked or broken oil pickup inside the sump or a broken spring in relief valve Think relief valve is on pump on those but not sure I'd be looking hard at pickup in sump
