Check engine light comes on for fault codes stored, when there is an error/failure/fault within the engine management system. These codes refer to engine management, and not maintenance intervals or reminders. Bring your vehicle to a local autozone and have it scanned for the codes. Post those codes on to receive additional help!!hopefully this helpd!!

1994 nissan cefiro how to tune engine wont idle engine runs ok when revs are up

could be a number of things so i'd start with a few basic checks , make sure the air intake pipes are in good condition and securely fitted and the air filter is clean, the vacuum hoses also need to be checked for condition and make sure they are pushed onto their connection as these can easily pop off, crank case vent to air filter/rocker covers must be clear remove and check as should have a wire filter that may be getting clogged with oil deposits etc ,if these are ok then i'd look at the fuel lines but would have noticed a leak by now,try a fuel addative as might just be a carbon build up somewhere along the combustion /exhaust process , follow the instructions carefully , i've found that when using these addatives it's a good idea, if possible, to go for a long drive maybe 100 miles at a highish speed so everything can get to the correct operating temp , is car mainly stop/start use keep me posted if you wish

Trouble Code P0174

It is not the fuel tank cap or the fuel that causes that error. If it does not come back on you are ok.

Hi, I'd like to know which oil I need for engine

Engine oil is a personal preference, brand anyway. You can use any kind of oil you want, all of it is tested and has to conform to the industry standards. The weight of the oil is what is important. Depending on where you live, the temp of the oil is rated in weight, 10 w40 is great multi viscosity oil, for high temp. Up north, straight 30 weight would be ok. Synthetics are ok, some people don't like them, they are old school, they change their oil regularly. If you change you oil every 3000 miles, you should never have a problem with the bottom of your engine.
Your transmission is different. A lot of newer transmissions are sealed to the owner. The dealer wants to get in there, If you don't have a dipstick to check the fluid with, you have to pull the plugs out of the side of the tranny to check it. One is for fill, the other is level. Transmission fluids are numerous, you have to get the right fluid in there. Most say what it is on the dipstick, but if you don't have one, you will have to go by the owner's manual. Transmissions go without fluids for long periods. Most people don't ever check them till something goes wrong. Check it out, hope this helps.

Oil in carburator in a 4 cylinder motor

Check pcv valve and vacuum hose to make sure they are working. Chances are that you have a broken or worn ring, or worn engine bearings. (excessive blowby) In which case there's not much short of rebuild or replacement of engine that will cure problem. You could remove the hose that is bringing the oil into the air intake off the air cleaner and route a longer hose into a can or something temporarily but it's not a cure.

Check your inlet air temp snsor for tolerance. It is showing low input. It is usually located in the air inlet tube between the air filter and the throttle body.
