I have an '04 Silverado w/4l60e. When I shifted from reverse to drive the vehicle moved forward as usual but after 100 ft. I heard a loud crunch and lost forward motion. I can use 1st and 2nd range also...

The direct drive sungear is most likely the problem inside the transmision. The brass bearings do wear and the gearing get sloppy causing this noise. A complete tear down of the trans will have to be performed or a rebuilt trans is needed. If this has many miles on it replace the trans

I HAVE A 2000 GMC 4L60E TRANS.ALL FORWARD GEARS WORK OK AND REVERSE WILL ONLY WORK WHEN I FIRST START IT.WONT GO IN REVERSE AFTER IT WARMS UP?

the reverse clutches are going bad in the trans or your fluid need to be fully flushed out and filter needs to be changed and just a suggestion use a quart of lucas transmission fluid in your transmission

Have a 1998 surburban 4x4 4L60E trans high r.p.m from stop to change into gear want move i reverse can it be in valve body oil flow and pressure?

The late shifting could be a control problem but the no reverse is not. These trans had a habit of stripping out the reverse sun shell, the metal from it may have gotten into the valve body causing the late shifting, but it really does not matter. If you have forward movement, but no reverse it has to come out. Sorry dude. You need a trans.

Reverse won't work on my 1994 GMC Surburban 4x4. Only 90K miles, truck is in great shape otherwise. All other gears work fine. Tranny fluid looks and smell fine, it was changed in the last 12K miles.

If you have no reverse, more than likely, you have either a stripped or broken sunshell, assuming you have the 4L60E transmission. Are you absolutely sure you have all forward gears? Another indication of the sunshell being defective, will be no engine braking in manual second.

No reverse after rebuild on 4L60E Transmission from 1995 GMC Sono

There isn't a modulator on this trans as it is electronic

You can have first gear going forwrd but no reverse. It is possible. The low/ reverse clutch isn't needed to go forward.

Rebuilt the Trans.(4L60E) in my 1995 GMC Sonoma PU and after installing it I have no reverse? What went wrong? all forward gears work fine. Also seems like there is a slight whining noise in forward...

did you do the rebuild or did a shop do it? it sounds like the clutches werernt done properly. if the reverse is out the other gears will go out too if driven too far in that condition,

While driving truck makes a humming sound in drive now no reverse

If you have no reverse then yes it needs to be rebuilt. as far as the whining it could be in one of the differentials. or in trans? just depends on where you hear it
