My problem is that iam not getting warrranty on my steering box because the only company that ford use for extended warrratyis byfords and they say my failure was caused by impact hence no warranty.i believe if impact causes steering box failure over some time it is a design fault that allows to much impact to be transferred to the steering box,wat do you think

Sorry, but that's like saying my fender is faulty because it buckled when I hit that pole. I really think they have a legitimate argument there, Sorry. No manufacturer or warranty company is going to warranty a part that has been damaged by an accident, or impact.

thing is i havent had any impacts or accident.and i have googled f250 steering problems this is a very common failure not due to impact.this failure comes on gradually.my streering gradually got more and more free play as many other people have.i think if this can be caused by hitting apot hole as the warranty guy said i must have it is a design fault as this is supposed to be an offroad vehicle.my wife hits potholes regually in a mazda 3 and does not have a problem.this warranty guy also says this happens to landcruisers and other cars as well.i have driven landcruisers in the bush for 30 years and have never busted a steering box. nothing comes up if you google land cruiser steering problems.my previous 2005 4.2 ltr almost killed me when the box output shaft broke driving along bitumen road at 100kph.and new one cracked in same place at a later date when one of my workers did hit a pothole which caused no other damage to the truck not even ablown tyre or bent steering rod

Now that I've seen a little more of the story, it sounds like the warranty company was obviously trying to find a loop hole, and as far as they're concerned, they did. I will assume that you have contacted and searched the NHTSA site for any reference to same problem, or at least do an inquiry to see if they have had any previous complaints the same as yours. Perhaps a call to Ford-Owner relations dept, and explain that your going public regarding Ford's inferior assembly and/or parts problems, and also inform local dealer of your intentions, may persuade them to call the warranty company and have them re-evaluate the situation. Good Luck, and keep us posted of how conversation goes with Ford, seeing how they recommend this warranty company.

wat i would like to do is start a class action against ford .i think that if i went to court with everybody,s story/complaint that would be enough. maybe we could prove that this is a life thretening problem before someone gets killed.ford warranty guy says their repair company the only company they use for warranty work told them my failure was caused by impact.last time i inquired about getting proof of this scientificly i was told it would cost $4500.i passed this info on to suncorp insurance and was told that they would rather just pay the $20000 repair bill than try to take on ford because you cant beat ford.i am sure that it can be proven that this is a desing problem .and force ford to recall all f250,s and replace box or streering to make safe

Headlight go off when driving

Possibly the L.C.M, lighting control module, located lower right side of steering wheel.quick easy test is the "tap" test...listen for noise in that area when happening.the module is about 6 by 12 inches with 3 or 4 connectors on it.lightly tap with screw driver handle and see if that stops concern.

I have power steering going left but not right.

U will need to replace the steering box, the valve that controls this is inside the box and is defective, u can buy a rebuilt box for about $120.00 from a company called A-1 CARDONE, here is the part number. 277519

The headlights go out while iam driving

Had the same problem. Exchange the LCM (Lighting Control Module), which is located under the steering column, togehter with the Mulitifunction Switch (turning lights, wiper control lever).
This will stop the headlight problem, but I have some other difficulties with my lights - have a look at:

I need a diagram of a fuse box for a 1993 ford club wagon

Instead of spending $20.00 on the 1993 ford wagon fix it book check by the fuse panel under the steering wheel or on the foot well of the passenger side. If none available the look on line at ford parts type in make and model and look for diagrams of the fuse panel.

Car steering problems

You're going to have to physically look and see what exactly is broken. The tire-rods are your bars that extend from the steering box, to the wheel. The rack & pinion is the steering box. You may also want to take the steering wheel off, and have the big rod, that extends through your firewall checked, to see if it's that item that broke. Any of these will cause steering failure.

Troubles with steering 03 Ford Super Duty Diesel?

Unfortunately this was a concern on this vehicle, even new they had a tendency to wander all over the road and **** around when hitting bumps and ruts in the road. Inspect your tie rods and ball joints to make sure they are tight, inspect the shaft that connects the steering sector to the steering column for free play. If all these are good remove and inspect the steering damper shock if it has one to make sure it is ok, if it doesn't have a steering shock install one. Ford has all the parts available to install one or you can get a kit from Rancho or other suspension parts company. And last off adjust the free play in the steering sector, you will need to set it tighter the factory specs to get the wander out, then have the alignment checked to make sure it is in spec and your truck should drive normally.
