With engine on set blower motor to high, set mode position knob to panel (i.e. full left), open all A/C outlets, set temperature to cold (both levers if so equipped). Now press the wash and rear wiper buttons on the A/C panel at the same time for 5 seconds until all LED's light. This should get the test started. Numerous lights on this panel will flash as different tests are run. When finished if the tests are passed the rear wiper LED should be the only light flashing. Push the rear wiper button to exit test mode and that should do it.

My 2004 malibu cranks but won't start after changing the egr tube

that is interesting, the Exhaust Gas Resurculation tube should not have an effect on the engine running. Please, check for other causes. Must have fuel, air, and ignition.

The ac pump turns on for a brif second before it stops then that light on the ac botton on the dash flashes what can i do?

The unit is detecting that either the A/C clutch didn't engage or there is not enough resistance for the pump (no freon in A/C unit). It shuts down to protect itself.

have a mechanic check which option it is and give you an estimate. Then you can decide on a DIY recharge or have the shop do it (or shop do the clutch).

I would recommend professional job on the freon refill because they have the equipment to test for leaks. After all, the fluid leaked out from somewhere so any DIY refill without fixing the leak will just be more ozone killing fluid in the atmosphere.

Good luck and please rate me.

My 2000 Buick Lesabre has the engine code: 1404 Auxilliary Emissions Control rang up...Please tell me what this means?

I believe that is for you EGR valve(exhaust gas resurculation valve). it may be the valve itself of one of the vacume switching valves that are acociated with it. just fixed this on my RAV4.
