Question about 1994 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a 94' honda accord lx 4cyl (stick), the radiator coolant was a reddish-brown, so I called pep-boys for advice. They said to disconnect the top and bottom hoses and flush the radiator first, then to take my garden hose, force it in to my lower radiator hose and flush the block while running the car, then turn off the car, re-assemble everything, fill it with coolant, bleed it and leave the radiator cap off while running the car with the heater on high to get any air out. I did this, it worked then my car shut off, and now it won't start, it wants to, it almost sounds as if it ran out of gas, or water in the pistons, but those are impossible. Please help

Check your Tail Pipe to see if there is any water coming out of it. Also, Pull your Oil Dip-Stick to see
if there is any moisture on it, or if the Oil has a milky appearance.
Let me know what you discover.

Best Regards,

The Wrench

I checked the tail pipe and there is no water, I checked the oil dip stick and there is no evidence of a milky residue or milky appearance.

Okay, Let's try another attach on this problem:
Take Your Distributor Cap off and Check for Moisture.
If there is any signs of moisture, take a Hair Drier and Blow it out until dry.

    Best Regards,

    The Wrench

How to remove starter from 1998 Honda Accord LX 4cyl?

Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Caution: If you have an anti-theft radio, make sure you have the activation code before disconnecting the battery.

Remove the battery and battery tray from the engine compartment (remove the battery first, then remove the bolts for the battery tray and remove it.).

Remove the lower radiator hose and the wiring harness from the starter bracket. Make sure they are positioned out of the way.

Clearly label, then disconnect the wires from the terminals on the starter motor solenoid (the smaller cylinder attached to the starter). Disconnect any clips securing the wiring to the starter.

Remove the mounting bolts (two) and detach the starter (pull it gently out of its housing).

Reverse this procedure for installation.

Hope this is of help to you.

1987 HONDA ACCORD LX WATER LEAK

Yes, there is a "bypass outlet" coolant hose that connects from the water pump inlet pipe (metal pipe that runs from back of water pump along engine block to lower radiator hose) to the intake manifold.

I am not sure about the "black box" - not enough detail.
