Question about 2007 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 Sedan

1 Answer

I have a 2001 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T model. Anytime I'm on the road, after 5 minutes, i noticed that when i throttled (as in pressing the pedal), the car will be reluctant picking up. It will take its time before moving proportionally to throttling. When i put on the air condition, it will vibrate to the point of almost quenching. I have change the spark plugs and even their coils, no improvement. But I noticed that the chamber (I'm not sure if it is the turbo chamber) at the exhaust header gets red hot to the extent of generating smokes. Please kindly help.

I would strongly suggest that you have your Catalytic Converter Checked. Replacing this may solved your problem.

What would make my 2002 VW Passat just shut off when sitting in park?

Hi there:You will need to have diagnostic codes checked which can be done for free at parts store.

We have seen where the vehicle will run rough and have poor throttle response because the wiring right at the throttle body is bad because the wire terminals are loose right at the connector the first thing you will need to do is check the wiring and check the trouble codes stored in the engine control module to see if you have trouble body codes this needs to be the next step .

EPC stands for Electronic Power Control. This is the drive by wire throttle system used in Audi and VW gasoline models. Here is a list of some of the related components:
- Throttle Position (TP) Sensor G79
- Sender 2 for Accelerator Pedal Position G185
- Throttle Valve Control Module J338
- Angle Sensor 1 for Throttle Drive G187
- Angle Sensor 2 for Throttle Drive G188
- Brake Light Switch F
- Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor G70

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

2001 passat 1.8 car starts fine but has no power and when you push on accelerator pedal and hold it steady the rpms will rise another 1000 rpms or so.fuel pump and regulator check out fine.

APP sensor went to limp home mode. The APP or throttle control uses to angle sensor when one sensor does not report it goes to limp home mode. The ECM cross checks the throttle angle so one is off. The late module assembly that is used is mounted to the floorand was more damage from spilled drinks. some where water damage the majority where coffe damage.go to the floor pedal position gain acces to the connector the inside connector may be contaminated,if you decide to clean it youll need a electrical cleaner clean the inside connectors, with the engine off.

Where is the diagnostic port located on my 2001 passat 5 sp. auto V6?

On the old Volkswagen Passat B5 (MY 1997-2001) the Data Link Connector (DLC) or diagnostic port is placed on the right side of the parking brake lever, under a small rectangle rubber cover. See pictures below:

On the new Volkswagen Passat B5 (after MY 2001) the Data Link Connector (DLC) or diagnostic port is placed on the panel above pedals. See pictures below:

I have a1999 VW Passat 1.8L and the problem is as follows: when I hit the gas pedal car idiles fine but when you let go of the pedal you could see on the Tach. how the idiling bounces up and down until it...

Generally this is due to carbon build up on the throttle body butterfly. Carbon builds around the bore of the throttle body and the airflow is difficult for the engine control module to control.
Take the rubber boot off of the throttle body (it's held on with a hose clamp with a screw that can be loosened with either a philips head screwdriver or 7mm socket) and use carburetor cleaner and a rag to clean the throttle plate and the bore that it sits in. To make this easier, remove the coolant resevoir (3 phiips head screws). Just disconnect the connector on the bottom of the resevoir, don't disconnect any hoses.
When you are done, turn the key to on, don't start the car, and press the gas pedal to the floor and hold it there for 5 seconds. This helps the ECM learn the range of the throttle plate.
You should have this all fixed up for under 5 bucks.

p1545 is a throttle control malfuction code

You can try to reset the throttle body by opening the hood and drivers door then turning your key to the accessory position. You will hear the throttle body whir and click. It may take up to two minutes. Afterward, the car will relearn your habit of driving and adjust accordingly.
