Do you have parking lights if so rule out switch. Check all fuses, if all are good then good chance dimmer switch is the suspect.

How can i get teh dashboard lights to turn off?

dash lights come on with the light switch so if you turn off the lights and the dash lights are still on then the problem will be in the switch or if you have auto lights then the problem maybe in the auto module.

Have a look at the dashboard lights dimmer switch. That switch, losing contact momentarily while the lights are on, will cause the lights to flicker.

Dashboard light on car with rear lights on.

This can be caused by fitting the wrong bulb in your brake lights. Typically a single fillament bulb in a twin ~(Stop and tail) holder. It causes the brake light current to back feed into the sidelight system thus illuminating the dashboard.

Simply fit the correct bulb to cure the problem.
