My 1999 Chevy Cavalier has had a sluggish/weak engine. I believe the gauge is high by a couple mph, and there is a bit of a grinding when I slow down. I'm far from being any kind of adept at car m

If one of the cylinders is not producing power the engine will be very sluggish. And you should have a check engine light on which would cause you to have the computer scanned for trouble codes.
A miss will not affect engine timing.

Check engine light and knocked off rockers

Running rough and misfiring is usually a one or more bad spark plug wires. Don't go back to that dealer. Replace the wires or have your mechanic do it for you. If you replace them, take one off at a time and install the new one. If you put the wires back on in the wrong order, it will misfire.

2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS V6 3.0L Cylinder 3 Misfire

Anything is possible but if you want to know if #3 is really misfiring and hurting the performance try pulling the plug wire to cylinder # 3 with the engine off (so you don't get shocked) Now start the care and see how it runs. If it runs the same then #3 is really bad. In that case imagine how much better it would run if #3 was up and operating correctly.

I have a 2005 chevy cavalier i went to start it this morning and it wouldnt start then when i did get it started the engyn light came on and started blinking i changed the spark plugs and its still doing...

It sounds like you have a major misfire going on, here are the possible causes:

Base engine mechanical fault that affects one or more cylinders
Fuel metering fault that affects more than one cylinder
Fuel pressure too low or too high, fuel supply contaminated
EVAP system problem or the EVAP canister is fuel saturated
EGR valve is stuck open or PCV system has a vacuum leak
IC control circuit is shorted to ground (an intermittent fault)
Ignition system fault (a coil) that affects more than one cylinder

If the engine misfire is severe, the "Check Engine Light" will flash on/off and needs to be fixed right away or more damage will occur.

Please let me know if this information is helpful. Positive feedback is appreciated. Thank You!
