How can i change out the ignition switch on 94 nissan quest?

  1. Position the vehicle with the front wheels in a straight ahead position.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  4. Wait at least ten minutes for the air bag back-up power supply to drain before continuing.
  5. Remove the driver's side lower instrument panel cover. On 1993-94 vehicles, remove the cover screw, then pull out on the cover to release the clips. On 1995 vehicles, remove the five cover screws, then pull out on the cover to release the clips.
  6. Remove the four driver's side lower instrument panel reinforcement bolts and remove the lower reinforcement.
  7. Remove the ignition switch electrical connector bolt and disconnect the connector.
  8. Remove the two ignition switch screws.
  9. Remove the ignition switch from the steering column.

93 Nissan Sentra will not start

before you do that , if it is an automatic , check your neutral start switch. to answer your question , no you do not have to pull the steering wheel . You will have to pull the upper and lower steering column covers behind the steering wheel to access to the ignition switch assembly.

Change ingnition switch on 1978 pontiac firebird trans am

Use a steering wheel puller to remove the snap ring that holds the big spring. Remove the screws that hold the signal light mechanism, and the signal light handle has to be removed. Lift the signal thing up to expose a "torx" headed screw. Remove that screw and the tumbler should pull out fairly easily. That torx screw should have an unthreaded part at the bottom of it. Make sure that comes with it. Sometimes they break off.

Try your inertia switch in the cargo area in back. Its located on the passenger side rear wheel well. Push the button.

You will need a wheel puller.. Makes life much easier for pulling the stearing wheel off..
The wheel puller comes in various shapes and sizes with - all with the basically same idea..

Windshield wipers, heater blower fan & power windows just stopped

Replaced the ignition switch, the circuit breaker in the ignition switch wears out, the ignition switch powers the fuse box. You can get a new ignition switch from napa for $128.00 do not get it from the dealer, they sell it as a kit with door locks as well so that the key matches, and then you are lookin at $249.00. Unhook the steering column and drop it so you can drill out the ignition switch assembly, that is a short cut so you do not have to pull the entire steering wheel off. Consolo Automotive

Its a 1993 Ford Escort, Heater Blower Stopped working, i've checked all the fuses and the look good, any ideas to what this might be?

check power at the plug of the blower motor and if you have power but no blower then replace the blower. if you have no power and no blower, check for an open circuit at the switch or if your vehicle has a relay check there.

ps dont forget to rate my answer if you could. Thanks

Please help

remove the cowling around the steering wheel place the key into the ignition, you should be able to find a small pin hole on the side of the ignition barrel get a strong pin or pick and push it into the hole with the ignition turned to acc then pull the key the barrel should then pull out of the steraring collum.

if the reson you are replacing the ignition is that the key wont turn you will have to replace the holl igition set up which means you will have to pull the stearing wheel off and stearing collum out of the car (IF YOU HAVE SRS AIR BAGS DISCONECT THE BATTERY AND LEAVE THE CAR TO SIT FOR 5 MINUTS)
( UNDER THE STEARING WHEEL IS A ITEM CALLED A CLOCK SPRING DO NOT MOVE THIS YOU WILL RECONISE IT WHEN YOU SEE IT, MAKE SHOUR THE WHEELS ARE IN THE STRAIGHT AHEAD POITION BEFOR COMENCING THIS PROCEDURE. IF YOU MOVE THE CLOCK SPING YOU MAY DAMAGE IT AND CAUSE HUNDREDS OF DOLLERS WERTH OF DAMAGE)
once the collum is out you will need a center punch and hammer to slowley turn the 3 shear off bolts that hold the ignition,
remove old ignition and fit new shear the heads off the new bolts and refite the collum and steearing wheel to car.

( please if you are not shore that you can do this procedure take it to a qualifide tecnishion as the air bag system can be very dangeruse)

good luck

Ignition

apparently steering colum lock. next time try turning your steering wheel to the left while turning the key in the ignition. don't stress the ignition. though if it isn't your stearing lock the last thing you want to do is bust up the or in come cases break your key off in there. Try turning the stearing wheel though. 99% of the time thats what it is.
