Question about 1999 Chevrolet Astro

1 Answer

I guess I did not make my self clear on my post. I used the term "holes" NOT meaning a hole in the floor but a depression where the seat connects to. When removed there is a DEPRESSION indentation there. 2 part Epoxy is not an answer! I was thinking something along the lines of a removable cover. Any thing around like that? Thanks!

There is no direct cover to snap in place you would have to make something. like cutting a rubber mat or carpet to cover back area. a bed mat works great as they are almost 1/2" thick

Whats involved in fitting genuine ford rear seats into my connect panel van?

No the mounts in the floor should be there. You can't just drill holes, the sheet metal would tear away in a crash.

Where is battery located

The battery is behind the passenger seat, hidden under the floor. Move forward the passenger seat. Then open the rear right door, clear all the floor mats on that area. You will find this somewhat square panel cover at floor level. remove the single #15 torx screw , lift up on that hole area while pulling sidewards. I hope you get lucky. Have a nice day. : )

Trying to change beanch seat to bucket seats what will interchange

You can put any bucket seat in the car. You'll just need to add spacers between the floor and the seat rails and create holes for the bucket seats to bolt to the floor. I have a 70 El Camino street rod and have bucket seats in it. I installed the outer seat rails to the factory bolt holes the best I could and created the inner 2 holes and added a couple of spacers to level the seat and make sure it was straight.

Water in getting in floor behind driver seat

Remove the Cowl vent panel under the wipers. Each corner in the basin has a square drainage hole. Make sure they are clear with a blower or long wire. They get clogged with leaves and debris. Test it by pouring water and see if it drains under the fender. Drill additional drain holes if you want, at the bottom of this metal basin. On the back of this basin you will see a large rectangular hole where the air is sucked in for the heater. That is where the water gets into if the drainage is clogged. It then shoots through the vent under the drivers seat, aiming to the rear. that is why you get a wet rear floor.

Are there any other seats that fit Ford Transit Connect other than the original ones as the seat I have is giving me back ache.

You can get another seat from a scrapyard. You will need to do some measuring to find what will fit.Pay attention to seat height above the floor as well. Too wide seats will interfere with the door. Bolt holes can be moved by drilling but always use at least 3" washers under the floor to make sure they don't pull through in an accident situation. Always be careful not to drill into brake lines or other items underneath. If you have electric seats, you will need to re-wire harness to make it work.

Wet rear floor

I had a similar issue and found that the two rear drain holes for the sun roof came off and any water was running down into the trunk and also the rear floor was always wet. I pulled the rear of the roof panel down to expose the rubber tubes, re-seated them with glue so they would not come off again.

Seat trouble

Yes! There is undercoating sprayed on the underside of your jeep to protect and deaden sound. This is dried onto the threads of the bolt protruding through the floorpan. When you try to remove the bolts the friction is so great that the bolts will always snap. To remove the seat, it is not necessary to take the support plates out, only slide the seat to one side or the other to clear the hole and grommet then pull seat upward on that side to remove. Pull back the fabric at the front of the seats and you will expose the pivot rod that is inserted through the hole that I spoke of above. There may be some kind of clip in the grove that needs to be removed so you can slide the seat and rod over to the side so that it will clear the opening.

I have a stron mildew smell in my car and discovered water on the passenger seat under the seat and on the back floor. I had found this before and thought something must have spilled. Now after driving...

take the cover off of the door behind the outside mirror. if there is a hole where the cable goes through.. seal it was some type of elastic caulk such as silicone. water comes in around this when it rains but generally just runs down the door post and onto the carpet
