Question about 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

2002 Suburban 1500. Driver's side power door lock, the actuator does not move the rod to lock or unlock - must do it manually. The rest of the power locks are working, and I can hear the actuator in the driver's door and you can see it trying to move the rod. I know how to take off the door panel, but then what? Thank you

I have struck silimar issues with fords in NZ. If the actuator is getting full voltage during lock and unlocking, the actuator is faulty. Even though it wants to go it does not have enough strength to pull the lock mechanism, so it can not lock or unlock the catch.

Anyone know how to get the lock in the unlocked position. The actuator is in the locked position and I can't get the door panel off without getting the actuator in an unlocked position.

My alarm system isn't working

The power door lock electric actuator motor is defective most likely. You will need to pull the door panel off and test it with a volt meter for power and ground when the power locks are actuated, if the system is powering up the lock motor but it doesn't move the rod then replace it,.

Drive side power door lock is not working

If the door lock works ok with a key, I would say the lock actuator is failing. Its a small electric solenoid that moves the lock rod.

Door lock problems

You most likely have a worn out actuator on the driver side door. When you push the unlock button, the actuator is the device that actually moves the lock linkage rod up or down to operate the lock.
The actuator on the driver side door usually fails first because it is used more often than all the other doors. I had to have these replaced on my 2000 Navigator, and they cost me about 250 each to replace (the part is around 80-100 dollars, but the labor is relatively high).

My 2005 Honda Odyssey driver's side manual sliding door won't open/unlock - I hear the lock mechanism moving when I activate the power lock/unlock, but the door cannot be opened no matter what i...

More than likely the connecting rod that goes from the door lock actuator to the locking mechanism itself came unattached. These rods are usually held in place by a small piece of plastic that the rods "pop" in and out. The only other thing i can imagine possible is that the door lock itself is actually seized up. In order to attempt to fix this, you would have to remove the door side panel to see the inner workings of the door, and this is quite difficult on most side sliding doors (i have a 2000 pontiac montana w/dual sliding doors). Hope this can help you solve your problem.

I have a 2001 Suburban and my rear passenger door will not unlock, manually or power. This has become very frustrating. Help me please!

They are very common for the door latch actuator assembly. Usually it starts when one particular door stops locking or unlocking. The lock rod will only partially go up or down, then gradually stop all together. The actuator used to be a separate component, however now it is integrated into the entire latch assembly. It most likely is the problem and will need replacing.

1999 GMC suburban locks seize in locked postion

I just bought a 1999 Suburban and all of the door lock actuators were bad including the rear (barn style door) while I was replacing the rear door acuator I noticed that even with the factory mounting bracket on the actuator it was causing the door lock rod (the rod from the keyed cylinder lock to the actuator) was on a bind......the solution I came up with is adding an additional 3/4" spacer between the factory mount bracket and the door attach point. this solved any binding and the door lock works great now........also I used a lubricant on all the doors where the rods run through the plastic guides, which seemed to help quite a bit! Hope this help's.

inside the door there is an actuator and the rod has become disconnected from actuator to lock mechanism and randomly hits, you have to pull interior door panel and look by door lock inside and look for loose rod and reconnect

Power door locks won't unlock + tailgate won't open

your issue involves the master control switch panel on the drivers side and or the passenger side as well some how the contact inside the switch assembly has either shorted out or no longer makes contact for the unlock side of the circuit. replace the drivers side panel switchs it's either a series of switc hs or mostimes one sigle board of switchs. you are better off going to an auto parts store rather than a GM dealership this will save you quite a bit on cash on the parts. now as to the rear tailgate. if it is electronic controled and there is an issue with the master switch you can,t manually unlock it because of a safty issue built in the system. you can manually unlock the passenger compartment doors for thew same reasons of safety but doesn't apply to the tailgate. just replace the parts and this will take care of the problem
