If it leaks, you will smell a "sweet" smell of coolant in the passenger compartment, especially in the front passenger seat, and you may get condensation on the inside of the windshield, especially in cooler weather. If it gets really bad, you may get coolant dripping onto the carpet on the passenger's side.

The other failure mode is it can get clogged internally, due to rust in the cooling system. This will simply cause it not to put out very much heat in the winter, but it won't cause any trouble otherwise.

If you have recently replaced the radiator, you might need to replace the heater core as well. At ten years old, it might need to be replaced. It is located essentially between the glove box and the firewall. I'm not familiar with this car, so I'm not sure how to remove it.

Under dash (inside of vehicle) it's bad if it's leaking and there is coolant where your feet go

I am looking for the location the heater core on the van

You didnt list the year make and model of the van but all heatercores are located inside the heater box. depending on the year and model there are some where the dash must be removed inorder to gain acess to replace the core, and some there are panels you can remove and then take heater box apart without removing the dash to gain acess to core. good day. heres a picture to help explain where the heatercore is .this would be inside the van on the pass/side under dash. good day.johnjohn2_154.gif

Where can i find a diagram of my heater core so i know what i am looking for, most of my dash board is apart but im not sure where to go from here. 1989 pontiac 6000 le

this all depends on the body code, there are a few .the heatercore on this year doesnt need the dash to come out, on the pass/side you will need to remove the duct and then remove the heatercore cover and then remove the core it not a bad job on this year, good luck.johnjohn2_73.gifjohnjohn2_74.gif

Hot water leaking under the drive's foot mat.what do we do? Also a lot of steam coming unto the front windshield/ screen from inside

The hot water is may be coolant and may be leaking from the heatercore and causing windows to fog, another thing to check is to make sure the heater box drain is clear and also the rear firewall drains, if you open the hood and look to the rear where the battery is thatarea fills with water due to plugged drains at the bottom, theres a drain on each side and one under the battery but the only way to get this water hot would be if the water would enter the heater box which i kinda doubt, this sounds more like coolant. i would have the hoses checked to make sure its not a hose going to heatercore and causing the leak inside, if it is the heatercore then this is an expensive job, i just noticed the year, a 1994, this may be a heatercore leaking. have the system leak tested and the leak location will be clear. hope this helps.

Heater only blows worm air not hot

Check these three possibilities: One, car has a bad thermostat. Two: Car has a bad heater control valve and three: Car has a vac leak under the dash that controls the heater Flap Valve. If this flapper isn't closed completely, cool outside air mixes with the warm inside (recirculating) air and cause a lukewarm air mixture at the vents.

Never use straight antifreeze water is needed to give it its cooling properties at most the ratio should be 60/40 antifreeze / water. It sounds like a bad check valve locate and replace.

Need to check the valve that opens and closes the heater hoses and allows the water to travel to/thru the heater core. 1992 Chevrolet Beretta 2.2L SFI OHV 4cyl The Temperature Switch is located: Under hood, center, upper engine area, next to water outlet, driver side of block, mounted below coolant temperature sensor
