Question about Oldsmobile 88

2 Answers

I have a 1997 88 Oldsmobile. Just recently it has started making a squealing noise that seems to be coming from the front tires. The noise only happens when I am going straight or turning left, the noise stops whenever I turn right. It's not particularly loud unless I turn left hard or am breaking. I am wondering if it may be out of alignment, as I drive over rough rail road tracks almost every day. Has anyone else had this problem?

How do I fix tire sqeel after hanging front wheel bearings ? Camber seems towed out.

Richard, If camber noticeably out and tires are squealing, you will need to take in and have it checked out and aligned at a good shop.

Weird vibration, unable to figure out

I would have the front wheel bearing adjustment checked first as if they are loose the rotor will be rubbing on the pads and the vibration will be wheel wobbling on the loose bearings Unless you replaced the bearings with new ones then they will fail especially if the adjustment was too tight and too much grease was used.

2000 Honda Odyssey making squealing noise when I turn

Sounds like the brake pad wear indicator tab on the inner brake pad as the pads sometimes wear out unevenly due to stiky brake calliper slides. You would have to remove the wheel to inspect it.

Squealing Tires?

Is it a tire squeal or brake squeal? If it is brake squeal put high temp synthetic brake lube grease behind the brake pads to reduce/remove the brake squeal. This allows the pads to sit on a bed of grease and will not vibrate at the frequency which produces the squeal.

I have a strange, intermittent squealing noise coming from the driver's side front. It sounds like it's coming from the tire, and when I put on the brakes it seems to affect it.

That sounds like the wear indicators are causing the squealing. They are a small piece of metal attatched to the brake pad, that when the pads wear down to a certain point, they began to touch the rotor when the brakes are applied and make a squealing noise to let you know you should check/replace your brake pads.

My right front tire makes a squealing noise from

that sounds to me like your brake pads may be dragging or your wheel bearing is shot

Squealing front right wheel

Is the outside of the tire worn lower than the inside or visa versa

Could be that your tracking is out and your tire is making the noise as it scrubs the road

Broken a/c compressor

it depends what you want to do. you can take the compressor right out and run a smaller belt.,if it will allow that,or replace it if you want air conditioning.

I have a 99 jeep cherokee sport. When making a sharp turn to the left I hear a rubbing sound coming from the left front tire area. There is currently a light squealing noise when stopping. Are the two...

Probably. Check your brake rotor and caliper. The brake pads may be worn down enough to make that noise. Brake pads are around $29 bucks for a set. And rotors are about the same each at Autozone. I just did mine recently and I am VERY happy now that my 99 Jeep cherokee stops right and doesn't make the rubbing noise when cornering, and the squealing noise when stopping. There you go! Happy Motoring!
