This relay in the underhood junction block is where the power flows through to turn your cooling fans on. If these do not come on when they are commanded by the pcm the car will overheat,

1999 grand prix gt overheating. Changed thermostat, water pump, upper radiator hose. Please help!

does the upper and lower hoses seem to be the same temp when car begins to overheat? ore the radiator cooling fans coming on before the car overheats? did you pressure test the cooling system and radiator cap? also may want to remove the lower hose and flush the radiator. is the check engine light on and does it run bad?

CHECK COOLING FANS FUSE AND RELAYS.IF ALL IS GOOD PROBLEM COULD BE FAULTY COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR FAULTY PCM OR FAULTY FAN WIRING.

My 1996 grand prix started to register cooling temp of over 210 degrees. the motor doesn't seem to be overheating. I've replaced the water pump, thermostat, temp sensor, both fan relays, low coolant...

I would first check the cooling fans. To do this unplug the fans and use two jumper wires to hook them direct to the battery and test. If the fans are working I would have the radiator cleaned or purchase a new one. To clean the radiator take it to a professional and tell them you would like it rodded out. You can purchase a new one for about twice the price. I wouldn't worry about the low coolent sensor. By it being on it will not send a message that your vehicle is overheating. If you have changed everything that you say you have and the fans work and radiator is cleaned you may have a blown head gasket. If you have a blown head gasket you would see steam comming out of the tail pipes or water in the oil on dip-stick. Good luck.

My 2000 pontiac grand prix, the Engine temp heats up when at idle, returns to normal temp when at high speed and now it is almost at the overheating level whether i'm ideling or driving, Is it the...

The initial problem points to the radiator fan(s) not running at any road speed. Check the fan(s) for noise-free turning by hand. Check fan fuse and relay (swap with similar relay). Turn on the air conditioner which should immediately turn on the fan(s). Overheating while driving could very well be the thermostat--you will need to drain the cooling system before replacing the unit. Blow out the radiator core with compressed air from the engine side to remove bugs and other debris first. Hope this helps!

Where is cooling fan relay located?

You will see three relays hooked up under the hood and all are identical One for fuel pump, one for radiator cooling fan.If you think one is bad swap them around to test them which is the easiest way to test them

probably not a relay, check the coolant temp sensor to make sue its reading ok,if its misreading it will not tell the computer to turn the fan on

P0481 on grand prix 2002. cooling fans work with a/c on and relays seem ok. vehicle temp gauge opertaes ok and does not seem to get hot.

sounds normal, the fans were made to run continuous w/ ac running, but on sensor when ac is off. if car isn't overheating, the fans are probably running from time to time ,but your just not catching them running
