Do you have a screwdriver? Take wheel off. Put screwdriver thru side of caliper between the inner brake pad and the rotor. Use a hammer or something to drive the blade in between and then gently pry the caliper piston back into the cylinder. OK?

Emergency brake stuck to floor will not release

Hi Barbara:
I'm guessing that when you pull the release handle it moves, but nothing happens.
Odds are that whay has happened is that the cable has come out of the release lever, Or, the cable sheath has slipped out of its retaining slot.
Either way, you have two things to do:
1) Get mobile so you can go home. To do this, put it in park or low gear with the motor off. You will need to access under the dash where the release mechanism is located. Use a pair of pliers (or whatever else will work) to pull or pry the release lever away from the firewall (towards the seat. The parking brake will release.
2) Go home (or wherever, just don't use the parking brake.
3) Repair the brake:
- Release the Cable Sheath from the retaining slot.
- connect the cable to the release lever
- Re-install the cable sheath into the slot.

Driving on interstate. Noticed shimmy. Suddenly got worse. Felt like a flat. No flat. Noticed front wheel smoke from brakes. Had been smelling brakes right before. Can't see visible problem in brakes.

hello,
It sounds like you have a bad brake problem. smoke from the frt brakes is bad! the following are the things to check and repair.
(1) front brake calipers may be frozen
(2)caliper (rubber lines may be collapsed)
(3) hard lines may have damage?
(4) master cylinder may not be releasing fluid
(5) front calipers may have bolts loose and\or missing

I changed about everything, cylinders calipers, shoes, pads, and new rotors. then after following correct bleeding proceedures still no pedal.oh, and no e- brake either .what the heck am i doing wrong?(1991...

If you have no e brake that tells me your problem is something to do w/rear brakes. Pull your re brakes back apart and make sure everything is seated properly. Sounds like you didn't adjust rear shoes out far enough. Double check rear adjustment THEN bleed again - rt rear -> lft rear ->rt frt -> lft frt.

Driving and truck pulled hard to the right. stopped did not do it again.then truck seemed to lock up on frt right side.middle of rim smoking. help

The brake caliper locked down, check it to see ,get it to lock up,and open the bleeder screw on the caliper,if the caliper releases the rotor, replace the brake caliper hose,if it does not release, replace the caliper.

The front lft. side sounds like a roar of a wheel bearing whine when going down road. can someone help?

your gonna have to replace wheel bearing. remove wheel, brake caliper, caliper bracket, slide rotor off (brake disc) remove alxle nut, on back side there are 3 bolts ,remove them them it pulls out, look at new one youll see,you will have to hit with hammer to remove, hit hard top, bottom, left and right sides until it comes loose. good luck.

Your brake hose is probably resricted slightly colaspsed on the inside replace the brake hose (wouldn't be a bad idea to replace both frt hoses) and did you lube your caliper slides pins
