That piece is spot welded from the top to the bottom. the cheapest and easiest thing to do, is to have someone weld the peices back in. It shouldn't take too long and then just hit with a little black spray paint to give it some protection against rust. A trusted muffler shop or nearby body should be able to do this for for minimal charge. The hood you should be able to find in any local salvage yard or in aftermarket for around $300. I would go with a salvage yard myself.

Look thru the grill and remove the 3 or 4 bolts holding the hood release latch to the support brackets. You might want to try looking from underneath also. There is no easy way. Once you have it open you can replace what ever is needed and reinstall the latch assembley.

How do I build the bonnet release kit up on my 2007 ford focus

Bonnet release units are set at the correct distance on manufacture so unless there has been an accident the adjustment will be by the bolt that goes into the latch or by the rubbers that position the bonnet when it is closed . If it has been in an accident then the bracket that holds the latch will be bent and should have been replaced

Hood latch will not close all the way

Hi,

Grab a flashlight and a long screwdriver and peer straight down into the hood latch. You should see the end of the hood cable, it's looped in to a metal bracket. Have a helper pull and let go the hood release cable from inside the car, this cable should move to the when pulled, and return when released.

If it doesn't return, the cable is stretched, or a spring is broken from the cable assembly. Here's a quick fix:

Facing the car and using the screwdriver, push the bracket to your left as far as you can. This resets the latch. Drop the hood from about 2-3 feet above the latch. You need to close it with a bit of speed or the release mechanism will just move. It might take a few times of moving the cable and dropping the hood to get it to latch.

Permanent fix is to replace the cable.

Hood release wont latch

replace hood release cable or lubricate the cable to free it up.
In the mean time, push the cable back in and see if that helps.

How do you install the hood release cable on a 96 honda civic dx?

TOOLS:
Screw Driver, Plastic Cup to place your bolts.

STEPS:
1. Buy a new latch for $20 max. or $5 from your local junkyard
2. Open your hood. Take out your grille. Front bumper. Driver side fender and plastic fender cover.
3. Take the plastic panel covering the hood release latch. (should have 1 plastic screw, just pop that with a flat-head screw driver)
4. Remove bracket (2x -10mm bolts)
5. Remove the entire broken hood release with your new one.
6. Place everything back
7. Enjoy!

Hood latch problem on 2003 saturn vue

cable is a little worn, but what you can do is open the hood.on each side or the core support, its the long piece that is above the radiator are 2 black rubber hood stops, you can try bringing them up a little at a time(3/4-1 turn)equally as this will put more pressure on the hood and should pop right open.It may take mor ore less than the turns I said, also lube the hood latch with some good lube not WD-40 hope it works have a good day DB

Find a pickup the same year and model. With this hood open, Take a coat hanger and bend the hanger to the correct shape to snake into your pickup and hook onto the hood latch. Practice a little on the hood open, partial closed etc until you are comfortable snaking this into the latch.

HOOD RELEASE CABLE BROKE, HOW DO I OPEN HOOD?

After trying to pull the cable from under the hood and accidently working it loose from the latch, I had a mechanic come out to the vehicle, and he drilled two 3/4" holes that lined up with the latch mounting screws so that he could dismount the latch mechanism from the body of the Jeep. Then the whole latch assembly came loose with the hood. Next, he reattached the latch, and then attached a wire to the latch so that it can be pulled to work the mechanism without the old cable at all, though at the expense of security, because now it can be opened from outside the vehicle, but it's difficult to find unless you know what you're looking for. This might be a little more than most people are willing to do, but it worked for me.
