Question about 2000 Mercury Mystique
If the oil only covered the "outside" of the spark plug, it is likely the valve cover seals to which will be carried by most autoparts stores. Replace by using a black silicone to hold the seal in the cover(just a couple of dots here and there to hold it in will do) and this should cure the issue for at least another 60,000 miles.
