P1004-on many other cars means:ECU Battery Feed and Power Grounds
But P1004-on chrysler indicates : SHORT RUNNER VALVE CONTROL PERFORMANCE
Theory of Operation
The engine performance and power output is enhanced through the use of the "short runner valve" (SRV) system. The SRV system allows the intake charge air to bypass the long intake manifold runners between the intake manifold plenum and the intake manifold interface to the cylinder heads by providing a shorter runner directly between the plenum and the cylinder head interface The SRV position is controlled by a pneumatic/spring actuator and electronic solenoid valve. When the solenoid is not energized (the "rest" position), the SRV is held in the closed position. When the solenoid is energized the SRV is moved and held in its opened position. There is a set of enable conditions including a minimum engine coolant and ambient temperature, SRV enable, and Powertrain Coordinator load enable condition. If any of these conditions are not met, then the SRV valve is de-energized (closed).

  • When Monitored: With the engine run time above a calibrated value, battery voltage greater than 10.4 volts, ECT within a specific range, and the Short Runner Valve Assembly (SRV) control active.
  • Set Condition: The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) compares the circuit feedback to a calibrated closed range, between 75% & 85% Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) duty cycle, when the circuit is de-energized or to a calibrated open range, between 35% & 55% PWM duty cycle, when the circuit is energized. If the value is determined to be out of the calibrated range in either the de-energized, greater than 85% duty cycle or less than 75% duty cycle, or energized, greater than 55% duty cycle or less than 35% duty cycle, state for more than a calibrated amount of time, this DTC will set.

3.o v6 jaguar changed x2 lambda sensor cleared faults for 2 mins come on again

Had this problem before ,in fact its quite common on the S type with this engine and i think you will need to check the voltages for the heaters i find that one or the other out of the four doesnt have any 12v power ,and trying to find the correct wiring circuit is like a hidden treasure trove ,the 12v heater circuit comes from the ECU and the fault lies here so what i do to make them work and please remember iam a old fleet comercial mechanic not a dealer unit changer i make a feed from a supply via the ignition circuit this will make them work correctly for the emissions test but the light will still be on .To test the circuit remove the multiplug to the sensor and where you have two white wires this is the 12v feed ,do check the earth to make sure its ok but one of the wires is the feed and the other is the can incoperate a a fuse into the feed wire of 5 amp but a couple of connectors and a fuse of the larger type straight onto the legs ,i wouldnt advise you to take a feed from the other sensor and this could cause that circuit to go down as well ,i have no idea why this happens on these vehicles but i suspect that the chips in the ECU could be made in china and are not of the best quality .

My 1997 dodge dakota v6 3.9 auto 4x4 wont start replaced the ecu computer it will crank but wont start

Check for spark, and for fuel at the manifold. The ECU will not prevent you from cranking, but it does control fuel and spark.

Jaguar xj sport 3.2 no spark or injector pulse

If ECU has crank signal and engine turns over, ECU should give injectors a pulse and trigger the ignition. If not ECU might be bad. You should check power and grounds going to ECU. There are usually multiple power and grounds going into ECU

2001 ford focus se. Charging system inicator came on briefly 3 times. Car cut out 25 min later. Recently replaced battery and terminals. Seems like alternator but after dying car wouldnt start 10 hrs later...

(this damages the ecu Disconnected negative terminal and car still ran) check and clean the alternator connections. and check the earths. light can come on if water has gotten into the alternator or the connection has come loose. you don't disconnect the battery when the engine is running as it can shock the ecu alternators have a built in voltage stabilizer but this only works with feed back from the battery no feed back it can convert ac instead of dc and blow up the ecu. it also damage other parts.

I have a jeep Liberty 02 3.6L V6 I was gone and the car sat for 5 days. I went to start it and it wouldnt turn over all lights were on, I had it jumped and it sterted and wouldnt go over 40mph. When codes...

P0230....Fuel Pump Primary Circuit

P0725....Engine Speed Input Circuit

Here are the codes but i have no idea what could be causing the problem ,Perhaps the dead battery has done something to the ECU ,i would check the fuel pump feed out but first i would charge the battery for at least two days on trickle charge so the engine will crank ok as if the battery is too low this could cause problems although it should start with a jump and charge itself up but if the battery is too low it will not charge as a alternator needs power to produce a charge unlike a dynamo

I have a 97 cutlass Supreme with a 3100 V6 and am getting a multiple cylinder misfire code on the reader. I have changed spark plugs and wires and have changed the fuel filter. What else could it be.

Coil packs, or faulty ground wires. Any time you get any sort of code that involves electrical issues, ALWAYS check/clean/replace your grounds. I've had this issue come up on multiple cars, and the common factor is always dirty grounds or a corroded battery terminal.

Missfire on number 3 coil on 2001 S type Jaguar 3.0 V6 Sport

Check the igniter module.
I assume you have a ecu code telling you #3 coil is missfiring ?
If so also check the crankshaft angle sensor .
If it is not an error code do a compression test and check the injector.
Hope this helps
