Check your tires. Sounds like you might have some separated belts. If you raise the tire off the ground and spin it, you should be able to see some irregularity either in the tread or in the shape of the tire.

95 Plymouth Voyager harsh vibration when accelerating

Hi Ryan

Before you go for a steering rack replacement with that much play, go back to your CV joints check the shafts by turn each wheel on its own and watch closly the axles as they turn , Do they turn true or do they wobble you may have a seized CV joint find which one wobbles thats where your problem lies if they do wobble, they should not. If not go to ball joints, control arms may not be secured to chassie. Or Steering rack as you say half inch play sounds too much play something not right.

1997 Nissan Maxima w/330,000 miles, excellent condition. Had bobbing when turning but no popping like most axles do, pulled into Nissan place and bearings blew out of axle. They replaced and said may...

most shops will check the mounts for you for free, and replacing the axles will be a normal thing for the amount of miles you have on your car,, ( 2 times) they don't always pop or click when they go bad,, they just GOOOO ,, motor mounts are around 100 bucks,, search prices as they vary a bunch ,, I would suggest you take your car to a transmission shop, and ask them for a normal service,, that way you get the trans serviced, and mention to them about the motor mounts, they will check them for you ,, again shop prices,, I got my trans fluids and filter changed for 39 dollars just last week , and they told me I had a bad muffler mount I was unaware of,, when its up on the rack its so much easier to detect problems,, and this was a cheap way for me to go, and I still got the tarans serviced

Does the 1988 Nissan Stanza have U-joints? The reason I ask is because when the car shifts it jolts. And when you put it in gear it jolts and vibrates. I looked under the car and I dont see a driveline. Is...

Hi, yes you have front wheel drive. The drive shafts are on each side going from the transaxle to the wheels. each axle has 2 constant velocity (CV) joints. This is a bit different than a U-joint but serves the same purpose. There are 2 indications of a worn out CV joint. Id the boot is torn, the CV will wear out due to dirt getting in. If you hear a popping noise when making a sharp turn, that is a worn our CV joint. If your boots are intact and there is no popping on turns, the odds are the problem is not with the joints but somewhere else in the drive train. Raise the car and turn the wheels by hand to see where the play is coming from. let us know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

At that mileage, your engine mounts probably are bad and need to be replaced. They would cause the engine to vibrate the whole car, when in gear, if the mounts are worn and have too much play. Have them checked.

Front end makes noise when turning. Could this be tire rods or axle problem. I had motor mounts replaced when the mounts went bad could this the moving motor cause damage to front wheel area?

yes, popping when turning is usually caused by worn out CV joints in axles. Check for torn CV boots. When a boot tears, dirt gets into the joint a wears it prematurely. If you find tears, it is easiest to replace the whole half-axle than to fix the CV. Let me know if you have more questions.

Rattling clacking sound slower you go louder the sound faster you go the lest the sound

eek i just had a problem similar to that and was hoping it would be the flywheel but it wasnt if the sound continues to get louder you may need a new car as it may be the bottom part of your motors worn out and abotu to throw a bearing the flywheel or flex plate is stilla option as well .. but it sounds like it may be a axle or cv joint as the sound if im correct isnt coming from the motor its self adn a clicking sound usualyl means a worn out cv joint or axle problem

I just had my CV axles replaced on my 96 maxima. I tried to get it inspected and was rejected for the bellow boot. Does this have anything to do with axles and how much is THIS one going to cost me? Please...

The bellows boot is the rubber accordian like shaped piece that protects the axle from water and debris entering into the axle, which is covered in grease, and prevents the axle from premature wear. This should have been take care of when the CV axles were replaced. (if it is indeed the bellows boot for the CV axle.)

Grinding sound upon hard acceleration after new cv axle installat

Sounds like it should still be at that shop, something is not installed correctly, the cv shafts are splined on each end and must be fully indexed into the transmission (axle). Also they have to be indexed into the wheel bearing housing. Usually the parts will not go back together if they are not indexed correctly, so I would look into the tranaxle for broken pieces, low fluid, etc. Hope this helps.

Transmission and a few other minor problems with my 95' maxima GLE

ok first off im not 100 % sure on all of these but i will give it a shot
#1 seems like the transmission is going bad maybe the fluid is sludged may want to replace fluid worth a shot
#2 I would talk to the people who replaced it and let them know whats going on sounds like they over looked something
#3 Im 99.99% sure that this is normal had a 1997 maxima that did the same thing first time i did it i was tripping out
#4 possibly true you may also have a safety feature that is not allowing you to close it like a limit switch
#5 You may need to just swap that ignition switch
