The air conditioning in my 2005 T&C stopped working. Right before it stopped there was a "burnt" smell coming through the vents. What happened?

I'm sorry to hear that your air conditioning stopped working in your 2005 T&C. That must have been a little alarming smelling that "burnt" smell. I would assume that if anyone starts to smell anything relating to fire should have their vehicle inspected as soon as possible. I would think that an auto air conditioning professional could figure out what's wrong. It seems like driving without a working AC, especially during summer, would be tough. http://www.airthermairconditioning.com.a...

When you have the A/C on, it automatically goes to fresh air venting. Meaning a door is opened to draw in fresh air from the out side. . My guess is the compressor has died. You have a 2005 so the HVAC system can be check by a scanner. Most places will pull the codes for free. Diagnostics is what will cost you. This does take a scanner, not a code reader.

No air coming from air conditioning vents

  1. Check the air conditioner fuse and replace as necessary.
  2. Air conditioner system discharged. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by an MVAC certified technician, utilizing approved recovery/recycling equipment. Repair as necessary.
  3. Air conditioner low pressure switch defective. Replace switch.
  4. Air conditioner fan resistor pack defective. Replace resistor pack.
  5. Loose connection, broken wiring or defective air conditioner relay in air conditioning electrical circuit. Repair wiring or replace relay as necessary. Air conditioner has a smell when used
    1. The air conditioner evaporator drain hose is blocked or partially restricted, allowing condensation to build up around the evaporator and drainage tray. Clear the drain hose where it exits the passenger compartment.
    2. Check compressor clutch wiring, electrical connections and compressor clutch, and repair or replace as necessary.

There usually is a vent option for recirculated or cabin air. Have you tried to change what setting it is on , you may need to clear cabin air. I am not familiar with this model , but cars are coming out now with cabin filters, they need to be changed depending on driving conditions ie dusty , dirty conditions need more changing

sounds like your blower motor has stopped working check for power going to the blower system if you have power the blower is probably bad the concern is the lack of a fuse blowing or a breaker not cycling you may have a harness problem sometimes a low grade short will heat up wires then melt them together causing a multisystem failure even though a fuse or breaker didn't blow check you harness

1999 z71 air conditioning randomly stops blowing

If the air stops blowing from the vents, the problem is with the blower motor. If it doesn't come on, try slapping the motor with your hand. If it starts when slapped, replace the motor.

Chevy Aveo strange smell and smoke coming through the vent with air conditioning on. Checked engine-OK. Turned up air conditioning full blast...after 30 seconds...little more smell and smoke it stopped...

If the blower motor is still working, that was not the problem-the strange smell might have been from some bacteria in the plenium, and the smoke may have just been the result of condensation from the evaporator in the plenium-keep an eye on it, but if the blower is working, I would not be overly concerned about it.

No heat after burnt smell

Either your Fan motor is faulty or the fan control resister assembly is burnt out, either of those will cause the smell.

When I turn my vent selector to defrost on the far right (air con off)the air conditioning comes on. The dash vents will blow ambient air, but defrost setting blows air con. Any ideas?

It's normal for the A/C compressor to come on with the defroster to dehumidify the air so the windsheild won't fog up under humid conditions. You can still control the air temp. out the vents with the temp. select switch.
