Question about 2008 Chevrolet Malibu

1 Answer

The brakes on my Malibu squeak really loud. The dealership says it was dust and dirt in the brakes. It's happened twice over the first 30000 km. Any ways to prevent this from continually occuring?

Is it a brake squeak? Some vehicles have a little metal tab on the brakes that starts squeaking when they get close to needing to be replaced. When you push the brake, the sound may go away due to the pressure being applied. Check your front brake pads.

Please help....I replaced the front brake pads on my 07 Saturn Aura because there was a squeaking sound. I took the old pads off and there was plenty of meat left and the rotors look very good. I didnt...

check the dust shield that is behind the rotor. It should be attached to the steering knuckle. if it is bent and touching the rotor it will squeak. I would jack the passenger side of the car up and remove the wheel. Once you have done that try to spin the rotor. Try to get it to squeak. It may also be dirt on your brake pads. If it came back after a week it is most likely dirt. Try a couple cans of Braklean while you have it apart.

Check the dust shield on the brake rotor's. There known to warp due to the heat of the brakes and will rub against the brake rotors or rim it self. Good luck and hope this helps, the other thing to that would create the squeak is low brake pads indicators rubbing against the rotors and it's time for new brake pads.

you need to tighten or repace you fan belt.if it has a self tensioner that may need to be lubed where it pivots or repace it if that does'nt work.

Squealing front brakes

Cheap pads will cause more brake dust and they do squeal, the only option is having the brakes done again with a better quality pad. If you can put up with the squealing I would just use them untill they wear out, they will not last as long as the better pads.
