2003 Saturn vue V6- alternator- how many wires plug into the alternator and what color are they- thanks

Only two , both are red . One is a heavier gage wire that fastens on the stud on the back of the alternator , this wire comes from the starter an has a fusible link . The next wire is of a smaller gage an should be in a connector that plugs into the alternator , this wire comes from the ECM - engine control module . But both are red !

Missing the wires that go to the alternator

Both wires are red. 10 ga wire runs from Battery + terminal to Batt.
terminal on alternator.
Smaller wire routes 2 different ways.
On V8, runs through cluster to L terminal on alternator.
On V6 runs through cluster to PCM terminal 16B-- comes out from
terminal 35B to L terminal on alternator

should have 1 large red wire, 1 small red wire and 1 small white wire. the large and small red wires go to battery hot all the time and the white wire will go to ignition hot. (note): if car wont shut off after running you will need to install a 30amp diode on the white wire.

Missing a wire off the alternator plug. only has 1 wire in the plug?I don't know where the other wire goes? It is mising completely?

There is a big red wire the power wire goes on the big post and the other two goes in the terminal which plugs into the end of the alternator. If one is already there then the other one goes next to it. It must have come out of the terminal.

The plug that connects to the alternator has three

Yes the White wire is the reason. It goes to the Internal Regulator.
As you view the connector that plugs into your alternator, look at where the lock tab is.
Lock tab on TOP. The Black wire goes to the Left side. The White wire goes to the Right side.

The Black wire, ties into the Red wire down in the wire loom. (The Red wire goes to the starter solenoid, and this is connected straight to the battery. This is why the Red, AND the Black wire, are both Hot wires)

The White wire goes through the bulkhead wire loom, and to the bulkhead connector.

(Down under the steering shaft, and on the firewall, you'll see a rectangular Black box shape, with a Bunch of wires, coming into it from the engine compartment. The bulkhead connector is two pieces. Following it through the firewall, the other side of it is the fuse panel)

Where the White wire connects in the fuse panel,
it should go straight to the ACC fuse. (Accessory)

Just changed alternator in 99 Taurus, battery light is still on.

Check with a test light, Power on the main post. Then unplug the three pin connector, you need to test for power to the regulator. I think the wire is green/red. It's not the white wire. The green/red wire is fed from the alt fuse in the underhood fuse box. The white wire is just a jumper wire to the one pin connector next to the three pin. The other wire goes to the light. If one of the pins in the Three pin connector( like i said i think its the green wire) and the main stud both show power, the take the alternator back and get another one.
