Wite milky resedue in the oil

Moisture/water in oil, all oils have a detergent additive to keep engines clean, if moisture gets in it foams up, sadly the main cause is cylinder head gasket, cooling system needs pressure testing or a hydro-carbon sniff test, Any other symptoms, water loss? running hotter than usual.

To that one guy saying its never normal for a motor to burn or use oil and its...

Believe it or not, it is normal for these engines to use about a quart every 2000 even when they are essentially new. Note that I said, "use", not "burn". The combination of higher compression and operating temperatures causes oil to pass through the engine. You might notice your tail pipes have a good coating on the inside. I managed to slow the process by converting to Mobil 1 0W40. I get much better performance and I only use a quart every 3500-4000.

Oil pressure light is on while I'm driving

No, it is not safe to even have the engine running with the light on-your oil pressure must be low or lost-serious engine damage will result.
Check oil level, and if low add to the full mark. If light goes out, you may be alright. If light is still on with car running, get to a shop immediately for diagnosis.

Oil light is still on.

The RX 8 engine burns oil pretty bad. Majority of time the oil light coming on is due to the oil level being just a little low. When the engine is cold check the oil level if its full then is another issue but if a little low just add a little oil at a time till full then light should stay off.

Creamy substance on oil dip stick

That is usually an indication of water in the oil. Check to see if you are loosing coolant, although it does not take much water to contaminate oil. The cause would probably be a leaking cylinder head gasket or a crack in the head or block.. It is not advisable to run the engine with contaminated oil as it will cause damage to all moving parts and introduce corrosion in the engine. Have a mechanic look at a sample of the oil to confirm my diagnosis and possibly give you a quote, unless you are able to affect a repair yourself.

could have water in your oil for the smoke but try to change the plugs first and plug wires for a little tune up and also after that if no changes then you might need to try changing coils or coil pack whichever one your vehicle has

Replacing starter motor

MONTEREY, Calif. -- After suffering a black eye from disclosing that it won't count RX-8 owners' opinions in its internal customer-satisfaction scores, Mazda says it may have to replace the engines in many of its flagship sports cars.

The voluntary recall of all 2004 and 2005 vehicles, and some 2006s, is expected to be announced this week or next. It involves damage to the catalyst resulting from oil leaks in the RX-8's rotary engine.

Any engine that does not pass a vacuum test must be replaced, said Robert Davis, head of product development and quality at Mazda North American Operations.

Engines prone to failing the test are mostly in hot climates and use synthetic oils.

Mazda also will check each RX-8's battery and starter, which tend to fail in cold climates.

"We're going to give these cars the white-glove treatment," Davis said. "We would rather replace the engine than have the dealer crack them open."

Davis would not disclose the projected failure rate of the engines or the cost to replace them.

Mazda has a remanufacturing center in North Carolina that will rebuild faulty engines and return them to service.

The recall comes after a video Webcast by two dealers who attended the July 11-13 National Dealer Advisory Council meetings in Newport Beach, Calif., was leaked on the Internet.

In the video, dealers said problems with the RX-8 were unfairly lowering Mazda customer-satisfaction scores.

Mazda informed the dealers that RX-8 owners would continue to be surveyed, but that the responses would not factor into dealer
customer-satisfaction scores. See story here

Mazda has issued service bulletins on such trouble spots as squeaky
brakes and engine flooding.

Oil leak from a Mazda Bongo

Are you sure you are leaking oil? Rotary's are designed to consume oil. How much oil depends on how you drive. Oil is injected into the engine to lubricate the seals. It is normal for a rotary to consume oil. Make sure it stays full, I usually check every 1200-1500 miles or so. The Renesis engine in the RX-8 uses less oil than the previous Atkins 13b's found in RX7's. I believe I have used about a quart of oil in 8000 miles or so and that is with aggressive driving habits. The best way to maintain a rotary's oil consumption is to check in between oil changes and fill as needed. Get yourself a factory service manual for detailed info on your RX-8. I got mine from www.promanuals.net for about $20. The best tool I've bought so far my Rotary.

Will not start after changing battery changed battery on my 2005 rx 8 mazda last night and it started up fine. this morning just kept turning over and would not start.

If the engine is cranking, it can only be 2 things left, got gas? Are you getting a spark at the plug wire? Check the oil. Some cars won't turn on the fuel pump with no oil, could be the pump. Could be the coils. You have to check these things out and find out which way to go next.
