I have a 99 alero, that was hit in the front. I need a diagram of the sensor locations, and can you reset them, or what do I need to do to get the new airbags operational?

Hello! The vehicle's air bags need to be replaced and installed by a qualified repair center...They are rather expensive; Costing, on the average, $1,500 or more...Air bag deployment does not keep an engine from starting...GM does not employ a fuel cut off or inertia switch...Therefore there isn't anything to reset except the PassKey Alarm...Chances are a sensor is damaged..Lets eliminate the PassKey as a problem and see if we can get the vehicle to start...If successful we can define any codes that are set...Turn the key to the ON position...Leave it that way for 10 minutes and 30 seconds...Then turn key to OFF...Wait 3 seconds...Attempt to start the engine...if it cranks we've made progress...Send any symptoms to me...If it does not crank or start send a comment with as much information as possible and I'll take it from there............

If this was a europen vehicle then yes you will need a dealer to reset the software for the airbag system ,but as its a american build vehicle then iam not entirely sure and you will need to buy a manual to locate the sensors that are behind the bumpers, and hopefully it will re programme itself once they are changed but i still think it will have to have the previous accident removed from the memory but i honestly cannot say weither your software is encrypted
