Question about 1999 Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

1999 Nissan Maxima, after sitting for a while the engine will start and run only for 1 or 2 sec then engine stops. Try to restart but engine just cranks, will not run. thanks, Roy

Thanks, I was also leaning towards this, but thought it could also be the Master Air flow or a vacum hose. Is there a reasonably easy way to check the fuel line and pressure?

You either need fuel filter replacement or fuel pump. filter should be under the passanger rear in front of rear tire on frame rail, fuel pump is in the gas tank the tank needs to be removed for replacement i would try the filter first there only about 20 or 30 dollars and pretty simple to change

the easiest way is to loosen fuel line coming from tank into filter then turn key on if gas squirts out then the pump is working now to check pressure you need a pressure tester usually if the puump is working the pressure is ok sounds like the filter could be clogged because it runs for a second then wont for a while the pressure slowly seeps through the filter and gives enough pressure for it to run

Find the vehicle control module. let it hang down in the passenger floor board then start the motor with a screw driver take the blade in hand and tap the module with handel of the screw driver. You have to do this with a little force, not enough to bend the module case OK. The motor will either dye or seem like it fixed it self. If either happen replace module.

"Warning Lights" on the dashboard of "1995 Nissan Maxima"

The warning lights coming on with the key in the on position is normal. If the key is turned to the start position and the engine will not crank over, suspect an internal starter motor problem or lack of power to the starter solenoid. You can try tapping on the starter motor with a blunt object while someone holds the key in the crank position to see if it starts when this problem occurs. If it starts using this procedure, the starter motor will be defective

Nissan 1999 Maxima is over heating

Most likely not. Pulling the thermostat will get you home, but not a great fix. Is it overheating driving down the road or sitting still? If it is overheating driving down the road, look for a clogged radiator or stuck thermostat. If it overheats sitting still, look for your cooling fans not coming on.

Location of a o2 sensor 2001 nissan maxima

bank 1 refers to the side of the engine that #1 cylinder is on , and sensor 2 refers to downstream , after the catalytic converter. , this link shows bank 1 on a 2001 nissan maxima V6 being on the firewall side . if you had a 4 cylinder it would be downstream after the catalytic converter .
