Check for loss engine motor mounts and transmission mount
Also check the air tube (TOP AND BOTTOM) for hairline crack.

A loss motor mount can cause excessive vibration and damage the air inlet tube.

Rattling / grinding sound coming from engine area when vehicle is in gear and car break is applied, but when gear is set into neutral noise stops. Was told the problem was the aircondition compressor....

Just a couple ideas...
Your engine and transmission will shift slightly when in drive, and maybe that movement is allowing it to rub on something. Another issue may be that the noise is actually from the transmission.
Torn motor mounts will allow the drive train to shift or move farther than normal.

How do I replace the coolant temperature sensor on a 1996 nissan altima?

If you look on the front of your upper water hose going from motor toraditor, you will see a small wire and plug assy. that will be the sensor and just unscrew and replace. Good luck it is quite easy to do.

2005 Nissan Altima where is blower motor resistor is located and what does it look like

The blower motor resistor is mounted under the glove box. It is in the corner somewhat covered by the kick panel. The card, at least on my pathfinder, is held in with 2 phillips head screws. The plug has 4 wires, one large wire and 3 smaller wires. You should see it very near to and parallel with the firewall.
