Hi,

This is a common problem on this model. On most occasions, it is faulty cluster. If that fuel gauge doesn't sweep from full to empty by manually sweeping the float and all inputs are good to the sending unit check the resistance between the cluster connector and sending unit.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hi! Please check the fuse underneath the dash. The temp gauge and fuel indicator fuse is surely faulty and will definitely require replacement. Hope this helps and thank you for using FIxYa!

Alright, then the problem will surely rely on the fuel float and temp sending unit. You will need to have it replaced to correct the problem.

Fuel and temp gauges dont work in my 1986 nissan sentra

Have you checked the fuse for the gauges ?
If the fuse has voltage, it could be something in the circuit board inside the cluster.

Gas gauge not working

The fuel gauge is operated by the fuel sending unit. The sending unit may be stuck. The temp sensor may also be bad.
First check your fuses.

My 2001 nissan sentra doesn't have alot of power until after it warms up. it won't even go up a hill. What could be wrong with it?

Possibly the intake air temperature sensor or the engine coolant temp sensor are stuck at full hot. The computer will schedule too little fuel--especially with the engine cold and you'll have very little power until the engine actually gets closer in temp to the stuck sensor. The engine coolant temp sensor sends signals to the computer NOT to your temperature gauge on the instrument panel. That is a different sender. So your coolant temp gauge on the instrument panel may show normal.

My Nissan Sentra 1996 Tempreture Gauge is no working.

A 1996 Sentr's water temp monitoring system is (I think) electrical, so have an electrician check your temperature gauge, thermostat, and all the wiring involved to find out which is working, then have the defective part replaced.

Nissan sentra keeps shutting off while driving

~lopez:
I had similar problems after getting my ECU replaced.
later i got a letter from nissan saying it was the wrong program they flashed on the ECU (think it was a maxima ECU they flashed into my sentra)
it only seemed to do it right after my car warmed up while i was slowing down (for a stop) but never cut out when i was at a complete stop.

you can call nissan to see if there are any recalls or updates for your ECU program (they should be free if there is)

if that does not work, or it cuts off while accelerating, try checking your fuel/air ratio, spark plugs, air filter, and fuel injectors. (a fuel filter can even cause cut-outs as well if it's seriously clogged, but it's usually hard to start as well)

~guest:
kinda sounds like heat problems, check to make sure your temp gauge is working and see if this helps...
- when it cuts out on you, turn key all the way off, then turn it back to full on (but don't crank) this should let you rad. fan run without cranking your car. if this causes the wait time to be shorter before you can crank it again (less than an hour) then it's most likely a temp gauge, water pump, hose or even a belt.
