I think the fuel pump is out. I used to hear it when I would turn on the key. I cant hear it anymore. I can crank and crank and crank and no start...I know there is 2/3 of a tank of gas. How do I replace the fuel pump or even know that is the problem

To reach the fuel pump you have to bring the fuel tank down, and you may want to try to syphon the gas out as much as you can. So first you have to make sure that fuel pump is bad or not. Check the fuse and the relay first and if they are OK, then you have to remove the gas tank. This way you can check for power at fuel pump connectors, or power up the pump with 12V for a short period of time, a second or so. If you have to buy a new one, go and buy a MOPAR only. Hope this will help.

Try turning the key on and listen for the fuel pump to kick on it'll be a hum coming from the fuel tank area. If you don't hear anything then its a bad fuel pump. If you do try turning the off and on several times leaving it in the position till the humming stops then turn it off and repeat a few times then crank it if it starts then the fuel pump is weak or a clogged fuel filter which isn't allowing enough fuel to pass thru to open the injectors.

1982 Cadillac DeVille with Digital Fuel Injection, won't start. How do I know if the fuel pump is bad?

Yes, it should. If it is conventional (like other GM cars), the pump will turn on for a couple of seconds when key is turned to on. This will prime the system for starting. When key is turned to start (cranking), the pump is turned on again at the relay, and pump stays on as long as cranking the engine happens. Once engine is started, the oil pressure switch keeps the pump running.
The best way to check if pump is good is to use a fuel pressure gauge. If it does not have a test port called a Schrader valve on the fuel rail, the pressure gauge must be teed in somewhere convenient. But if you take off the line at the filter, some gas should come out with key on, and when cranking the engine gas should come out in a steady stream.

05 ford five hundred wont turn over thinking its the fuel pump or maybe the relay

try banging on the fuel tank sometimes that could make the fuel pump work for a bit, you cant 100 percent rule out a bad fuel pump;you may have a better idea if it starts. good luck

Will not start turns over thinking spark problem also hoked up scaner have o% throttle even when pedel all the way down while cranking

Turn key to on position do not crank you should hear a grrr grunt sound that is your fuel pump but i think you will not hear the grunt because your fuel pump is most likely not functioning.

My car was driving just fine when I was driving on the highway. Then my car stop running and it won't start now. But I cant hear my fuel pump when I turn the key to on. Do u think it could be a fuel...

If you don't hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on, and usually this can be heard, then the fuel pump may be frozen or bad.

Check this by putting a pressure gauge on the fuel rail of the fuel injectors and seeing if it goes up to say 40 psi or so.

If you don't have a pressure gauge for the fuel line, then spray some starting fluid into the intake of the engine at the throttle body, and if the car starts for a few seconds, then dies, the problem is a fuel delivery problem.

Good luck on this repair.

2000 Jaguar VDP with ~50K miles on, won't start

This may be a fuel problem. You will need to gain access to the fuel pump relay or fuel pump to confirm that voltage is available to the pump when the key is in the run position. A simplier way to verify fuel is to hook a fuel pressure gauge to the shrader valve on the fuel rail if one is available.

Fuel is not flowing to engine, changed fuel filter but still not running.

Did the engine just quit going down the road? or was it parked and then would not start? Did it have fuel before you replaced the filter? Did you check all the fuses in the fuse box. I think 2 of the fuses is marked ECM, check both Fuel pump relay? swap it with another relay in the fuse box. You should hear the pump come on for 2 seconds when you turn the key on, do you? If not as you are cranking the engine have someone rap on the bottom of the fuel tank with a mallet or block of wood, or hammer and see of the pump will run. If that gets it running, the pump is bad and will need replacement.
