How do you fix a sticky throttle? How hard is it to replace the pick-up?

My van is doing the same thing. It also idles very high and I have found out that even at a complete stop, when I take my foot off the gas it will accelerate to up to 40mph completely on its own. We still owe money on it, so I am hoping it is a repair we can do on our own...

Cruise control has nothing to do with it, your pick-up is malfunctioning, it is located below the distributor or the coil pack. Replace it ASAP

This problem is almost certainly related to your cruise control, obviously dangerous. I suggest you disable the cruise control function until you can have the van repaired.

Check the flex disk (guibo) for cracks/deterioration between the drive shaft. Usually noticed under hard acceleration, but as it becomes progressively worse, you notice it sooner.

The power drive light is on my 2001 honda passport and i don't know what it means

it means you pressed the power drive button. it should be by your shifter knobb or on your shifter knobb itself. you should turn it off asap because in the freeway, it makes the transmission downshift to create more power for acceleration. in other words, it lets you accelerate faster on the freeway, just a little bit, but puts more stress on your engine if you dont turn it off after it downshifts. hope this helps, and goodluck.

How do i reset change engine oil light on a 2000 chevy venture

1. With the ignition key in RUN but the engine off, fully push and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.

2. Turn the key to off.

IF the CHANGE ENGINE OIL light comes back on, the engine life monitor has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

I have noticed personally that I have press my accelerator 5 times. Each vehicle has it's own idiocyncracies
