I had a used gas tank put in my car but now the gas gage does not register the gas, could it be because the plastic liner is cracked in the tank?

Well if you used the used gas tank the sending untit could have been bad in it the best solution would be put your old one back in it the original

No: for the gas sensor/ float to work it needs 2 electrical connections - one to the dash instrument and one to the ground. Make sure that both are firmly attached and the wires are intact.

99 olds aurora washer pump or lower tank is leaking. Only info I can find to remove or inspect says remove passenger side wheel well but it's welded and not possible. Please help..

Inner wheel well or fender liner-- is what you pull
back, to get in there

Just plastic push pins & maybe a couple
of screws, then pull the plastic liner clear

Not welded

You can see & get to the top of the tank
to fill it,so you know where it is

Just get access from the wheel well

Best raise & support one side of subframe
& remove the one wheel

Use a screw driver on the two side slots ,in the push pin
heads, to pull them out (not all the way) then remove them

My gas gauge is stuck how do I fix it on a 1970 olds delta 88

if you disconnect the wire at the sensor or down from the sensor were you can get to it the gage should register empty and if you disconnect the ground it should register full. if nothing happens then the gage on the dash is bad, if gage moves the fuel level sensor in the tank is bad.

My fuel gage registers empty when I just fill with gas

Most likely it is either the fuel level sending unit attached to the fuel pump or the stand alone unit (there are two sending units, both located in the tank), or, as counter-intuitive as it seems, it could be the speedometer assembly. Personally, I lean toward the latter.

Fuel gage not working

Could be the sending unit in the tank, or the gauge on the dash. A mechanic would check the signal from the sending unit at the tank.

Gas gage does not work

you probly have a bad sending unit wich is conected to the pump in the tank so you will have to drop the tank to fix it also check the fuses to when you drop the tank the unit will have a float on it the pump will be two or three
piece you can replace the sending unit any auto parts store will have the part and directions with the new part

Gas gage not work

I would say that the gauge valve inside the gas tank is faulty. either that or the gauge itself

Run out of gas on a 2006 silverodo z71 and it will not crank after I put gas in it

I take it you mean it WILL crank(turnover) but wont start. Anyway, Your problem may be a lack of fuel pressure. Could be the filter is now clogged. Trapped air in fuel lines, and fuel rails. Most GM vehicles have a schrader valve on one of the fuel rails. It looks similar to a tire valve stem. You could turn the key to on, make sure you hear the pump in the tank running. It will run a few seconds to pressurize the fuel system, and run continuously after the engine starts. Using a fuel pressure gage to check pressure and depress the valve carefully to visually see if fuel or air is present. Dont position yourself to be sprayed with gas.

Most late model vehicles wont arm the ignition(spark) systems unless there is correct fuel pressure, among other things. Something you may not know is that most all fuel tanks have a reserve of 1 to 3 gallons of fuel in the tank that wont register on the gage. Putting in 1 or 2 gallons most likely is not enough to prime the system. Hope this helps.

It doesnt register the gas level either its always full or empty.

There is a float in your gas tank, it is probably broken. This is the part that reads the level of gas in your tank. Probably an expensive fix.

Gas gage not working, gas tank seems full but it is not

You will need to remove the fuel tank from the truck and replace the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module that is inside the fuel tank. Use extreme caution when doing this as there is a real fire hazard.

Fuel Guage registering improperly!

remove float assembly and reposition it facing the oposite direction. Sometimes the float installation positioning makes a difference on how the fuel gage reads.
