Head Unit going goofy

I've had the KD-G700 Cd player for a few years now with no real issues. Last week (Nice hot day) the buttons on the faceplate seem to be reassigning themselves randomly. Ex. The Eject button starts tilting the face, the Skip Left button changes from FM1 to FM2 etc., The FM button goes into the Mode function. I tried resetting with the tiny button on the front with a pen and it kept doing the same thing. Help? I have the same problem but for a jvc Chameleon KD-LX110R unfortunately i cant take the face plate off to try cleaning contacts. Any clues? Been hunting for this head unit for years, dont want to be let down at the final hurdle. Hi I am having the same problem all the buttons reprogram themselves and I tried reset but that doesn't work

Equinox cd player

Should be no connection between the two. Those vehicles are always having problems with the radio units in them. You will either have toi get the radio fixed or find a used one at the wrecking yard but then will have to go to the dealer to get the security code done to make it work or get a after market unit. I would say go to a after market unit.

Trouble starting (on hot days?)- seems like a power issue, but battery and starter are OK.

You may be making this too complicated.
When the air temp is high, the battery can become weak. So a battery that tests "good' today may be "fair" when it is 90 degrees.
Heat and lack of water are the biggest killers of car batteries.
And a starter can take twice as much current to operate when hot than when cold. Dampness and humidity are also factors in electrical circuits.
I would disconnect the battery when the truck is going to be parked for more than a few hours until you find the problem. That way you will know nothing in the truck is draining it.
Also, you should have the output of the alternator checked. A failing alternator would not have anything to do with the check engine light on your truck. The alternator can be charging 5 amps which would be enough to knock out the battery light, but not enough to handle the heat and the load of running the ac. It should be able to charge 40 or 50amps at road speed when needed.
The check engine light and rough running stuff does not involve the starting system. Only the battery, starter, and cables.

The last few years I've experienced problems with

First try replacing the Relay for the system. If that doesnt work check/replace the pressure and temp switch on the drier. The 124 body style have issues with A/C overall so dont be too frustrated. Also in the short term try turning the temp wheel to max cold (blue dot) and restarting the car. Sometimes it will force the relay and compressor to lock on while driving. Also be aware if your Aux Electric fans dont come on the system doesnt get cooled properly and will not stay on.
Good Luck.

Hi My audi A4 was really over heating a few weeks ago and the bonnet was so hot you coundn't touch it. I went to a garage who specialises in Audi and said trhis was normal!!!! It is now leaking oil - quite...

sounds a bit dear for a head job but it depends what part of uk you live in ,you could trade it in or put it in a auction and buy something else like a nice focus or mondeo ,a rover 220D is a nice car as well or depending on mileage ,pick up a jag for peanuts in UK if you dont do a lot of miles a year then how about a nice XJ6

The player will not eject the cd but it will not play it either.

I know it sound crazy, but turn the system on, press eject while using a PLASTIC knife to lift the CD in the player. If the system is stock also try disconnecting the radio fuse for about 10 minutes or so with the car off. Reconnect it to see if the radio resets. You'll know the power completely went out because you'll have to reset your stations. By Resetting, hopefully the issue will solve itself. In a few of the system issues I've seen, when the motor won't open the faceplate, or the CD player won't give the CD back. I usually remove the faceplate or disconnect the negative side of the battery for about ten minutes. Try this if the fuse removal doesn't work. Good look. Let me know how it goes. there are other things to try.
