Hi, we had this problem on a Toyota jeep in the garage a few years back & it turned out to be the earth wire coming into the dash as this is linked to the fly by wire thottle.
The wire had been cut through with something rubbing on it.
Sounds like yours is the same.
Check all earth wire connections then check the power connections even at the alternator as this would ba a feed point.
Also check the fuses ( as it could be that simple)

I have a 1986 chevy truck, the gauge/idle fuse blowes when you turn the key. The gas gauge and other gauges dont work but runs good. Any suggestions

It could be a short in the instrument cluster-maybe one of the non-working gauges. You could pull the cluster out and try to find it, or just try another cluster from a salvage yard.

A loose cable end can cause all those things to happen. You should clean the cable ends and the battery post and tighten them up and see if that works for you a loose battery connection can cause a lot of problems.

The truck will crank and idle but when you press the accelator, it quits running, It is blowing some black smoke, and does not throw any codes.. Don't know whats wrong

well first of all if its a ford, then you can look at the front of the grill.. the problem is circled ;) second of all take knife... flatten tires immediately, and hit truck with hammer and swear at it continuously. atleast it will make you feel better... oh yah... go buy a new truck.. and if that doesn't work take hammer and strike self in big toe for being a dar dar.

Check you battery cables to make sure they are not corroded, and on tight. Check ground wires for the same, inside the engine compartment, and inside the passenger compartment.
