Question about 1997 Acura CL
Hi, I have a problem with my car but not sure what it is, I was driving it earlier and was about to overtake another car, I changed up a gear and put my foot down and it felt like the clutch went, the car wasnt going any faster, it was just revving higher and higher, until i took my foot off the accelerator, it still drives at the moment, I did about 2-4 miles after this happened. The gears are still engaging but it feels like theres a loss of pressure, Im not sure if it has had a change of clutch as ive only had it about 18months, it has about 104,000 miles on the clock. It is a Vauxhall Vectra 2.5L V6 GSI, S-REG, this is not on the list of options.
Only way to check out the problem for sure is to drop the gearbox out and examine the clutch. Having gone this far in to the internal workings. It would make best sense to replace the clutch and pressure plates. Oil leaks can be repaired at the same time. No need to go to a main dealer because clutch replacement on a V6 is technically a very similar and no more difficult to replacement on any other Vectra

These v6 engines have an f23 gearbox fitted. there is a modification to the fill plug on the top to make it into an extended breather. inside the bell housing of the gearbox there is a seal which leaks oil onto the clutch causing it to slip. sometimes the gearbox will need completely resealing. hope this has helped.(vauxhall dealer will have full rework instructions)

Theres a plastic cover on the bleed valve of the clutch. on top. the seal could oof gone inside that are you loosing any fluid

Definately sounds like the clutch is slipping.
the problem is with a powerful engine the clutch will probably only last for 60k.

try lifting the brake pedal with your toes then switching on the cc when driving. sometimes a faulty or loose switch on the brake pedal can cause cc to cut out.
