Question about Hyundai Excel

1 Answer

Hyundai excel 1994 hard to start after sitting. Problem: After the car sits for a while it is hard to start. It is not cranking but I hear a click on turning the key. I need about 5 -8 tries until the car starts. All those tries give me only a click noise like the battery is discharged. The car drives then very bad until it is warmed up. If I put my foot off the accelerator to change gears the motor seems to close down a bit, that is until the car is warm. Once the car is on temperature it starts straight away. We have this problem for about 4 month, it is not getting worse and not better. Thanks for your time

Even i had a similar problem with my Suzuki SUV. It is a bendex problem It is about to go. Bendex is a part of the starter motor and moves forward to engage the flywheel when you turn the key. It can be repaired yet as it is working although intermittently, Please visit the local workshop and have it rectified.

Cant get car to crank

Check fuel pump itself to see if you can hear it cycling. If you can move down the line to fuel filter, could be clogged from sitting with bad gas, a common problem. Try turning over and spay some starting fluid to make sure you are getting spark. My guess would be clogged fuel lines. Let me know if I can help. Thanks.

The engine starts fine when cold, but when it warms up, if you shut it off, it will not start until it sits for a few hours.

Try your cam/crank position sensor. Normally if its not working properly the tach will not registor when cranking. You should get at least 100rpms while cranking!

1994 grand cherokee gives me a hard time starting in the morning no feul in rail ill crank and crank then ill hear the pump turn on and shell start up no drive problems it drive fine only when i try to...

Fuel pump is bleeding back so it isn't holding pressure in the lines. So when it sits long enough it is hard to start. Try turning the key on and then off wait 15 secs or so and turn key on and then off again do this one more time and see if starts. If so then you will need to replace the fuel pump in the tank soon.

it is the fuel pump for sure. If you can hit the tank and get it to run it is the pump. this drain back (hard start after sitting) is a fuel pump issue as well

Does your car have an electronic distributor or a contact point system? If it's electronic. proably the igniter inside the distributor is gone. Let us know how you get on. Cheers.
