clean the throttle bore and throttle plate and remove and clean the idle air control valve. Use a can of spray carb cleaner and an old toothbrush, while you're at it spray out the PCV valve too. Use the left over carb cleaner to locate any vacuum leaks.

Possible Crank sensor, or ASD Relay.? These are just common issues and some end up with computer in need of replacement. You will need to take to shop to have a scannner diagnose this intermittent problem.

It's in the tail shaft housing of the transmission.

These transmissions are known for having problems unfortunately. If it drives in first gear thei it sounds like a broke spring in the valve body. If you are not familiar with trans repair this can be a task as there are lots of parts in the valve body. Also could be a bad solenoid on the valve body they have fine screens and get clogged real easy. On these transmissions it is best to change fluid as often as possible as they are tempermental!

Hope this gets you moving forward!

SOURCE: 99 durango transmission slips on left turns.

I would say check the fluid level, perhaps the the trans fluid is slinging all the way to one side and is starving the transmission for adequate fluid.

SOURCE: 99 dodge durango pcm and connectors heat up causing the vehicle..

it would be best if you took it to a dealer and left a mechanic take it home over night, that way he can have the Chrysler drb hooked up when the problem presents its self.

The starter solenoid could be stuck in the engage position or the solenoid is energized all of the time due to defective start switch/key cylinder.
