Question about 2006 Nissan Frontier

1 Answer

2006 Nissan Frontier 4x4- makes an intermittent "wailing sound" at speeds over 60mph.Sound happens regardless of whether or not A/C is on & I've tried coasting in neutral but sound still happens. Also had brakes serviced & pulleys examined, main belt only has 5k miles.

Tow my 2011 Nissan frontier behind my motorhome

I wouldn't flat tow any vehicle & expect
the transmission or transfer case, to be happy
about it,in the long run

If you study your owners manuals & service manuals
& towing stuff, you will see no manufacturer recommends
the driven wheels be on the ground.

I have 2014 frontier-so that is both ends, of a 4x4

I would put it on a trailer

Too much in the front & rear of the drive train, for me
to tow, other than a trailer

I guess having once owned a trans shop, you see my concerns

2006 Nissan frontier, noise from rear end, no vibration, just a slight thumping noise, brand new tires, still does it.

Go with rear axle inner bearing (Part Code 43210)

Axle tube --not diff---just change the fluid on it

Go to Nissan Parts Zone.Com & print the axle housing
diagram. $67.00 bearing, just bolts on, you can do yourself

That is the C200 housing ,you may have the Dana if you got
the pro x or le

I would do both sides

Go to the internet forums, you'll find the problem

Just bought a 2014 Frontier 3 weeks ago

I once owned a trans shop & found I had to do all my own
road tests & such for those issues, not many people are
good at chassis diagnoses

yes it sounds most likely like an ant amp, and it is not that hard to replace, the best way to determine it is a new one since it is intermit, it is located in the C-pillar i think on the pass side but i could be wrong all you have to do is remove the light from the trim piece detatch the top part the pull up it sits in a groove, looks like a small white plastic box
