I just came back from grocery shopping and my trunk will not open. I tried using my key remote and the button from the car but neither will work. I noticed for about a month that it would not shut very well but nothing, major (I thought). Any advice from someone? Thanks! Cassandra
Sounds like we all have the same problem with the trunk latch. I permanently took the molding off the back of the trunk lid. I found that if you disconnect the electrical connecter on the latch and reconnect it the trunk will close on the first try. took me all too long to figure this one out. good luck!
My trunk has this problem too... I found that if I play with the little plastic cover around where the latch connects... it will eventually shut... I press that cover in a few times, slide it left or right, until it is just in the right spot and close the trunk... some times it closes, but the light on the dash doesn't go off, so I have to use the key to open the trunk and repeat 4 or 5 times to get it to work... of course this broke just after the warranty expried... i'm off to the dealer this week to complain... sigh...
My trunk stopped working shortly after i bought it. i feel like i get a work out just trying to open and close it. my husband has a hard time as well.
I had the trunk problem, it would open if you use the key, but took a few tries to get it shut. Also the gas cover would not close. Both were covered by warranty because I was just under 50,000 miles.

Same problem, trunk works sporadically
I had the same problem. Cost over $250 to get fixed. Warranty would not cover it.
Same story here. Problem started out where the trunk would not shut unless you slammed it. Slam it too hard and it won't open and they have to replace the trunk latch. Tech at dealer admitted this is a recurring problem with this model. I have to take it in for the second time.
I have 2005 jetta takes 3-5 slams to close it .I know another jetta owner same deal what a downer!
