The starter should be located in the rear bottom of the motor where the transmission and motor connect together

What causes high rev and backfire after replacing starter on 2003 Honda Element?

Since this requires removing the intake manifold, it probably wasn't reinstalled correctly.

Starter

pull starter off and take it to the parts store and have them run a free test on it. or get under the car and test larger power wire and make sure it has power with a test light. If it does have someone turn the key to the start position while you're under the car testing the small starter lead wire located right near the main hot wire on the starter. if they both have power and the starter still isn't working then you need to replace the starter

2003 Honda Element Battery, Starter, Solenoid or Altenator

im having the same problem. I went to one place and they said I needed a new starter. So I took it to another and they said the wires to the starter were not good and needed to be replaced, they put in a new battery also. Then 2 days later it wouldnt start again. So I took it back they diagnosed it and could not find a issue with it. So the guy told me it is something electrical most probably a relay of a sort. A coworker told me to go to a electrical specialist.
