Question about 2008 Volkswagen Eos

Open Question

Have 2009 Eos convertible. Top will not operate. Was told problem was probably temperature sensor in front of radiator that prevents top from being put down in temperatures below 5 degrees. Found sensor and it it had one of the wires broken off right at the sensor so cannot splice wire. Can I cut other wire, discard sensor, and connect the 2 wires together to make it work? If so, will this create any other problem?

There are two coolant temp sensors. One by the oil filler tube and one near the bottom radiator hose near the radiator.
When you flushed the coolant did you replace with VW rated G12 coloant? Very Important! - You can't use over the counter coolant - it'll cause sludge in your system. You have to use G12...

Hope this helps!

Shielding wires are always only connected at one end. Connecting at both ends substantially reduces the protection offered.

Where the heck is the coolant temperature sensor located ? I cant have have my wife drive this vehicle the way it stalls and shifts. THANKS.

You have to be careful with temperature sensors their are 2 of them .The first is most likely the problem its called the ETC this tells the computer what the temperature the collant is adjusts fuel trim major operations of the engine .The other one is basicly for gauges but its also important .
Bolth are located on what is called the goose neck ware the upper radiator hose enters the top of the engine near the thermostat boss this point is ware temp is measured .
Its the one with more wires 3 or 4 ETC

High pitched whine to the right front passenger side that appears to increase with acceleration

It is a wheel bearing, no doubt.
the wheel bearing is pressed in so if you do the job yourself you will need to take the hub somewhere to have the new bearing pressed in, but 100% the bearing.

The water tank boils a lot when the car is driven for about 15 to 20 minutes and it begins to spill out. this prevents the cars from running smoothly and easily. what should be done to solve this problem?

First check to make sure you have no oil reidue in your cooling system. What you describe is a common symptom of a blown head gasket or other combustion chamber leak. Also check your oil and make sure it doesn't have a milky appearance. If both of those check out, run the car with the radiator cap off and let it get up to normal operating temperature. You should see the coolant flowing through the radiator. If you don't see the flow at normal operating temperature, suspect the thermostat. When the car reaches normal operating temperature, the fan should also cycle on and off. If it doesn't check your fuses and relays to make sure they're OK. If they're good, try applying a seperate 12V source to the fan. If it powers up then suspect the fan's thermostatic control. Good luck.

Convertible top wont go down ??

Check in the trunk to see if the insert that the top sits on is snapped into place. If it is and the top still will not go down, unsnap it and resnap it. There is a sensor that detects if it is in place to prevent the top of the car from being damaged.

Where is the coolant temperature sensor?

I went to an autio parts store and looked in a Hayes repair manual that told me where the temperature sensor is located. It is behind the alternator screwed into the top of the engine block right beside the upper radiator hose.

the micro switch inside the trunk latch is probably faulty.try manually closing the latch on the trunk with a screw driver[dont hurt yourself] and see if the information display recognises the trunk is closed.also does the boot light go off?if not replace the boot lock...good luck

My front is samshed and how do i replace my radiator

It's pretty easy to replace. Take off the cooling fans. Three radiator mounting bolts on top. Disconnect top and bottom hoses. Disconnect overflow hose. Disconnect transmission fluid cooling lines. Disconnect coolant temperature sensor and coolant level sensor. Then the radiator just pulls up and out.

Can't find the temperature sensor on a 3.3L, 2002 LX Town and Country. Is inside the distributor housing?

There can be multiple temperature sensors on a vehicle. I will assume you are looking for the engine temperature sensor. It is normally located on the top of the engine near the front within inches of the top radiator hose. Most only require one wire for operation but some models may have more.

Trunk, backend of car stuck in up position

My 2007 EOS stops with the truck up in the air, going up or down, when the temperature is very hot. The manual says if the hydraulic fluid gets too hot, you must wait for it to cool. I find this unsatisfactory as I live in a very hot state. I had it in the shop several times, then found this in the manual, and took it in again last week; the service manager at the dealer says he has seen reports of this, but there is not solution that he knows of. I am contracting the National Headquarters this week, and then an attorney if they do not remedy it as I only have a few more months of warranty to work with them....hope this helps.
